Hope folks aren't too disappointed. We live out in western Texas and could just barely see the comet naked eye. My grandson with his 17 year old eye didn't have too much problem. My 70 year old eyes saw a blur(ish) comet. Photos do come out nice, but I had to use a eight second exposure! This was on Oct 14th under very clear skies.

I agree, have never seen it after much looking...this comet reminds of Comet Kohoutek from years ago. Typical pre-Comet hype...but no beef.

I could clearly see it from outside of New Orleans using a 7X50 binocular. It was more impressive in a pair of 14 power giant binoculars with 100 mm front lenses. The tail nearly filled the entire field of view. It wasn't bright but I could see it.

I saw it last night in Michigan with 7x binoculars between 7:45pm and 8:15pm. It's opposite the moon in the sky, around twice to three times as high in the sky as the moon. I needed binoculars to see it because it's too dim to make out otherwise - but I am near a city. Skies will be clear tonight again (10/18) in Michigan to view it!

It is so awesome to see and even get great pics using the night setting on a phone. So cool! With binoculars, even cheap ones, it is really quite spectacular!

A comet just as exciting as Halleys dim whisp was. Mark Twain came in with it and and predicted he would leave with it too. He died right on schedule😮 This bird won't be back for 80,000 years? Too long for me!!😂

I got a good shot of it from SW Utah. Faint but beautiful.

is arcturus labeled so I will know the star I am looking at?
@billsimpson6042 ай бұрын
Find very bright Venus and go up a little on the right side of it. Arcturus is the first bright reddish star you see the same distance above the horizon, to the right of Venus 45 minutes after sunset.

Are comets bad omens? The word “disaster” means “bad star”.
@Themilkmanskid.2 ай бұрын
Nop. Enjoy viewing the comet! Even get great pics of it using the night setting on your phone! Even just cheap binoculars will have you super enjoying this natural omen-free celestial object!

a comet does not move like that as it's too far away from our solar system, it stays motionless as seen by a naked eye. I've seen the one in 1966 (Leonid fireball) and it was so huge it was motionless in the dark sky so bright it really looked like a giant broom.
