The logo at the center of the steering wheel is 4 dots, which is the letter H in morse code. The fabric square on the left of the dash is not a speaker, there's a metal plate behind the fabric so you can use magnetic accessories (like sunglasses holders)

I looked for this comment also. I have this exact vehicle in Burgundy. I was going to mention the steering wheel bar with the 4 dots is morse code for the letter 'H'. Regarding the fabric square on the left of the dash, funny enough I found out yesterday, that it was a magnetic square, but didn't know it was behind the fabric. I'll have to check how it detaches.

"It's more fun to drive a slow car fast" I concur. In high school, my brother and I shared a used '78 Ford Fiesta. We extracted every ounce of fun that car had to give.

My first car was an '84 Honda CRX, and to this day it's still the most fun I've had driving a car. To be fair, everything after that was a cheap hatchback or practical sedan or wagon or SUV, so I have no real experience with anything that's supposed to be fun. That said, my first new car was an '89 Daihatsu Charade, and that was pretty dang fun too. I guess I just like tiny cars.

@@BradWilson1969 I had a 93 charade 1.3 tx, light and fast for that time. (there was also the GTti, another notch faster) And now to think that my base octavia 1.5 would run rings around it... how times have changed.

I agree 100%. In 2012, I owned a Honda Fit Sport and while it only had about 117 hp, it was one of the most tossible, fun car I had. The suspension was tuned for more handling duties so it was easy to push it to 8/10ths or higher and not worry about plowing into a ditch. It was a lot of DRIVING fun without the added worry of managing excessive speed.

I agree with the sentiment that it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. I have both a 718 GT4 (not a super car but very capable) as well as a mini countryman JCW with a tiny engine and a manual transmission. For the track, it’s the GT4 all day long. For anything else, the mini is a much bigger hoot to drive.

Great review. Thanks! We had bought a 2022 N Line for my kid last year and it was a ball to drive. Of note: At 6:26 you note it's a 1.6L but at 7:11 it's a 2.0L. It's a 1.6L since this is the "N Line" and not the beefier and more expensive "N." Hyundai really needs to clean up their naming system. On their corporate site, they actually treat the "Kona N" as a whole different car and not just a trim of the regular Kona. That's annoying and confusing.

Lower the suspension and ruin its ground clearance for off road work. Yes to the stiffer suspension. If it's not intended for off road work it doesn't need AWD.

I suspect that there will be an actual N coming out at some point, and that one will have considerably more beans, as well as stiffer and lower suspension. The N-line is more of an appearance and trim package.
@trialbygaming458810 ай бұрын
I love that you asked for 1.8 and not a 2.0 or larger, too many people want to jump on here and talk about how it needs 300/hp/lbs when really for the price if it had 220hp/lbs most would be happy at the price point.

Speaking of driving fast cars slow v slow cars fast (totally agree) there's a further dimension to that. Out in the desert it may be possible to ignore this a lot of the time, but here in the more densely populated Midwest, it seems that you need to make a choice between looking fast and going fast. If you do both, you end up losing your license. So I never ever prioritize performance when I purchase a vehicle. I prioritize something else I value like payload or reliability or simplicity, then I learn to drive it as hard as I can. If you look boring enough, the cops won't look at you. Unless you do something really spectacular. I am convinced I have more fun in my Toy pickup than supercar drivers.

I hope we get a Kona N on this generation. Hyundai is still up in the air on a full N version but they haven’t said no, it’d likely have the 2.5T. If you’ve never driven the current Kona N and you like aggressively sporty small cars, do yourself a favor; it drives even better than it looks

I'm starting to see the new Konas on the road and I have to say they're very sharp! I'm not too keen on crossovers but I do really like this one. I also never liked the first generation because it looked like a leap frog, especially in green! Now the new one looks like something from the future, especially with the LED lightbars front and rear, the sharp angles and wheel designs. IMO, the N-Line is the best trim because it's all body-colored. The plastic wheel arches and side skirts on the other trims is too much. Looks clean with everything painted. And you can't beat the price.

I have genuinely laughed my ass off driving around in a Chevy Spark, those things are hilariously small, but surprisingly capable on American roads (I'm usually doing some freeway driving and city traffic). I think it would be hilarious as a review idea to just go rent random cars and review them just like you're reviewing brand new cars. The rental-fleet spec cars can be so random in their options, I've had complete stripped down no-option cars and fully loaded, every option cars as well.
