This book is so cute! I love it. I love how realistic it is. The baking detail is amazing and I'm listening to this while making Christmas cookies. You're a incredible writer and now my rolemodel as i would love to write romance novels.

Oh my. Another one of those. Made it through the whole thing though. It's like one of those crappy action movies, to bad to watch it but actually so bad you can't stop watching. The problem is, there is no real tension to be found even if the book says "There is tension! Because there are things that are left unsaid! Really!" in every second sentence. Well... Tension is a bit like a joke, if you have to explain it, it doesn't work. Everything just works so smoothly with no struggle whatsoever. The only struggle is a very superficial, contrived one in the protagonists head. Paired with the soulless sound of what can be assumed to be a depressive narrator or a decent software voicemodel this audiobook dives so deep into the uncanny valley it's not even funny any more. That being said, with a few more twists and turns and a little bit of actual plot happening instead of the brain drama made from 100% artificial additives, this could actually be the base for a half decent movie. There is one thing that goes for movies as well as for books: "Show, don't tell!" Well... To show the feelings of the characters without simply telling is hard, but it makes a scene so much more compelling. Just telling what any person involved is thinking at any given time is simply lazy writing and withholding the readers the chance to figure it out for themselves. A book written like that makes the readers feel like idiots because they are treated as if they can't read the situation for themselves. This is the big difference between a "Millionaire romance novel, second chances, single rich man meets distressed damsel" book and a well rounded Pratchett. In a well written world the characters spring to life and as a reader you simply don't need to be told what they are thinking because after the first 50 pages you already know them really well. Not saying there is no potential, there really is. Emma, for example, is a well written character which could be found in the real world. Children without a mother or father will always try to fill the gaps at any given opportunity. Prince charming... Well, it IS a womans fantasy book, so we'll let this one slide. But the protagonist.... uff. Going from full metal jacket corporate career b**** to loving substitute mother/wife basically in an instant? Yeah, this sounds absolutely like a real person to me. Happens every day. Why not give her the character arc she deserves? This would be so much more rewarding! Again, the book wants to tell us a different story than it shows. It's basically a predetermined plot with checkpoints along the way and a character that is twisted and tweaked in a way so the plot (for want of a better word) can happen.

I may not have kids but what 8 year old is learning long division?😂 Aren't they learning their ABC's? Simple addition?
@floraellesse4440Ай бұрын
Nope! Sounds about right. Additions and alphabet is usually taught in kindergarten/first grade. Long division is usually third/fourth grade so it adds up 😊
