I think I am more impressed with the weight and health of these cows and the cleanliness of this farm. I have watched so many of your videos and I almost cry because of the amount of diarrhea the cows have and seeing them only bones. I love watching your videos. I am so happy that you truly care for the cows you bring so much relief to. I was really impressed with this bull. Thank you for helping them all.
@kimcallaghan34045 ай бұрын
Well its not diarrhea, dairy cattle have extremely fast digestive systems, on top of being ruminants, so every bite of feed they eat is regurgitated multiple times to absorb all the nutrients, how solid a turd do you reckon that would produce? Additionally healthy dairy cattle should show prominent hooks, pins , topline and rib a heavy dairy cow is an unhealthy dairy cow because that weight you seem to believe is a sign of health is the opposite, it damages their liver and strains their joints!
@silversiren70465 ай бұрын
Don't worry, the bones jutting like that on their hips is healthy. They would be around a body score condition of five or six because you can't see the outline of the spine but you can see a couple of ribs and the outline of the hips. Just like humans, if a cow is too fat, she can have health problems and can even have trouble conceiving. The diarrhea is usually because they've got access to lush, wet grass and it's a little too much for their systems - again, something humans get too! All of the cows they tend to in Scotland that you see in Craigy and Graham's videos are really well looked after just like the cattle in the rest of the UK. Animal Welfare standards are very high which is what makes the local dairy and beef (in my opinion) the best in the world.
@emmetthowell8995 ай бұрын
Actually most of the cows are a fair body condition for the type of cow they are, they are underweight if you can see the clear outline of the spine but that’s not the case for most. Also the diarrhea is because cows are ruminants not used to such nutrient rich and soft wet grass, so it moves through their digestive tract very quickly because it’s so nutrient rich. Yes it can seem very unhealthy but it’s not, mainly because you don’t make much money off a starving and sick cow so farmers avoid that, especially when their standards are higher than the USA’s
@CynthiaN.60055 ай бұрын

I don't know what it is but I love the humour infused wherever it can be. These animals carry so much weight that when something small happens, it can turn into something huge relatively quickly. Living in Merino country in South Australia, we saw much of this and it is important to remember that it can be heartbreaking if an animal cannot be helped. Thank heavens for the HGP and others like him. 😻 Oh and yes. The way you say sorest, it does sound like thesaurus. (Linguist and English teacher here 😹) Technically, it is more grammatically correct to say "most sore", generally "sorest" is acceptable.
