Always good to see Albert. I have two pairs, a pair of Mr. Lou’s in natural chromexel and a new pair from Imperium in Indonesia in black Shinki. I did experience heel slip in the Wescos which I finally fixed with some good insoles. I haven’t worn the Imperiums yet, waiting for fall on those.

Great video boys! Nick, you absolutely will rock an engineer. Much more versatile than I originally thought and glad that I have taken the plunge. Awesome video!

I'm just getting into less tapered jeans so perhaps this season is the time to take the plunge - but why are they so much pricier than most boots!
@telemarktumalo69784 ай бұрын
@@Stridewise Great question. I guess you could argue that there is more material. Larger panels across the vamp than in lace up boots. And, I suppose fewer lasts to choose from. Mostly, I think because there are many few bootmakers out there making engineers, less demand, etc., so cost of production higher. Or, maybe because us buyers are willing to pony up!

I have two pairs of engineers... between watching Albert and Jimmy on the Man Cave Club and Jake with Almost Vintage Style,, i couldn't resist.. i have black horsehide CXL Mr. Lou's from Wesco and just got in brown Shinki John Lofgrens,, just like one of Albert's videos on em,, that dark brown flat welt.. I'm really starting to enjoy this style of boot.. its just so easy not having to lace up.. I do need to broaden my jean collection now though bc most of mine are tapered as well and selvedge doesn't stretch one bit lol so i can't really force it

Good stuff but from what I have heard and read, the origin is not with railroad engineers but surveyors. They were for riding horses to sites and walking overgrown and uneven ground. Kind of an urban riding boot, which, I think, is why motorcyclist took to them so readily.

Engineer boots come from welders if something called the hot foot that’s when the weld or spark goes through your pant leg and goes down your boot. These boots were designed so you can kick the boot off quickly.
@highendtrends35082 күн бұрын
I like engineer boots. But the fact is, I have huge calves with little ankles. And big feet. So when I would wear them, they just don’t look right. I usually wear an ankle boot. Even boots that are mid. I can’t wear them because it just doesn’t look right on my legs.

Another thing about Clinch is it's suuuuuper uncomfortable. It's super super narrow. A lot of made in Japan boots(that includes Attraction) does not have wide width option which is a major deal breaker for people with wide foot(2E).

I lived in NYC for decades and alas now live miles away. Albert said something that my non-NYC friends don't often understand and that was once off to work in the AM you'd be out all day and much of the night and so having the right jacket for the whole day and shoes/boots were key to city survival.

I was curious about them but decided that they weren't for me. I prefer the heritage style boots with laces, just recently brought a set of Chelsea boots which I have some mixed feelings about. Engineer boots have a look that I'm not really thrilled about...plus they are heavy. If I was concerned about snake bites or hot embers, I would probably get a 8" or 10" logger, but to each his own.
