Great ideas in this video! My adhd brain loves the brainstorming and creativity behind it! The structure and taking the time to actually find out about a new type of problem-solving is so crucial! Trying to distance yourself from problems by creatively solve them is such a great idea. Thank you!

Dr. Your are really good. Much of my anxiety and depression comes from unsolved problems or made up/imaginary problems in my head and this really helps to untangle my brain. Thanks a lot!

This was a helpful video. I struggle at step 5 because I obsess over which possible solution to implement. I want to choose the best possible option and get stuck because I’m not 100% sure that I’m going in the right direction.

It's often better to make a choice and see what happens than put off the decision indefinitely.

Sometimes recognizing the "what is" can be intimidating. Confronting an ingrained personality quirk, or the accumulated consequences of one's limitations, or simply the bad choices one's made, can be a harsh reality. Accepting this suffering gracefully can be difficult and can put one at odds with the "what should be". And this can lead to some anxiety. But, one step at a time. Integrating life's difficult experiences and consequences with the the horizon we'd like to see takes some patience. One thing's for sure, comparing my real lived experience with the seeming perfections that others enjoy (envy) is pointless and is not a good starting point for discerning problems. Envy leads to frustration.

Disagree with this method to some extent. The secret is to disregard the thoughts in your mind that cause you such concern. Training your brain to stop continually thinking about these problems is the key. Trying to solve one problem will only be replaced by the next until your master disregarding the thoughts.

Not sure I agree. Usually, problems that a person does not address tend to get worse. So avoiding thinking about and dealing with problems often makes things worse. But if it works for you, that's good. I'd just never recommend this approach to any of my clients or anyone suffering from depression.

@@DrRamiNader Ofcourse serious problems have to be dealt with however making a list of problems and solutions can make things alot worse. I like the clear Blue sky in your mind picture with white clouds passing by being thoughts carrrying your problems. The more focus your mind puts on the little white clouds that would have blown away the more they become heavy storm clouds in your mind. Train your mind to let the little white clouds pass by - dont make them into storm clouds.

Ummmm but how? That’s the problem people have It’s call reminiscing thoughts. That causes depression.

@@nicoleadiaz1 So think as the thoughts as not you but a supplementary tool your body or brain has. So when you get the unwanted thoughts tell them ‘I don’t need you now. Go way. Your only thoughts’ - the thing not to do is dwell on the thoughts as this will feed them and make them bigger and heavier rain clouds. Let them float past like little white clouds and then they will disappear.
