I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

I just laughed so damn hard. I do love the way George includes a pretty wide range of queer characters and doesn't make a big deal of it or make their sexuality or gender identity their whole personality, like in so many queer characters. His trans and gender nonconforming characters especially are some of the best representation I can think of.

Varys’ mummers dragon (referenced by quaithe-spelling?- and the Undying) Varys being a supporter of “Faegon “ The conversation Tyrion and illyrio have about the blackfyres not being completely extinct Illyrio being a super supporter of “Faegon” Jon Cons name being, well Con (which means to finesse someone or to sell a lie) The golden company suporting “Faegon” (a company created by the blackfyres with the sole purpose of overthrowing the Targaryens, it’d be kind of like the KKK putting their full strength in supporting Black Lives Matter…just not gonna happen) Other stuff too, we don’t know for sure that aegon is faegon, but we kinda know for sure. Even if grrrm never comes right out and writes it directly

all fromsoft dark souls games are heavily influenced by berserk, interesting that Martin chose to work with fromsoft on elden ring. berserk pre-dates asoiaf, so i can't help but wonder if he's read it. i immediately think of guts sword when he describes gregor clegane's massive sword.

@@BudravenOG Doubtful, he's a boomer, most chalk it up to just a 'cartoon.' Perhaps by the time he wrote this, but the lore he used for JonCon was before the '97 anime was translated in '03 and distributed in the US. By then ASoS was in paperback as that's when I started the ASoIaF book series. I came across a bootleg copy of Berserk '97 subbed in English in '01 with "Not for Sale or Rent" posted at every blackscreen intermission for commercials in early '01. Guessing it was made to show companies which might dub the voices in English. Manga translated in English was even harder to come across around that time. I think Griff is more likely a play on the word "Grift" as theories claim... and their house sigil of course.

Interested to hear your opinion and review, what elements do you dislike in the book, OR prefer from the show? One thing I noticed so far, is the difference and how in the show Sam tarly is wise enough to know he should go to the citadel. But in the book version for some reason he cares about what Randall tarly would want🤔 anything that would make Randall mad, Sam would want to do willingly LOL
