A Story About Camino Del Norte Route | The Start of our Journey Across Spain (part 1)

This is the story of a 33 day, 515 mile walk on the ancient Spanish pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, the famous Camino. This is a 5 part series, detailing our experience on the Camino Del Norte route, starting in Bilboa in early October. The tale is filled with lessons, history, mishaps, amigos, food, and learning how to let the Camino be the Camino.
Join us for Part I of this lighthearted adventure: The Struggle. Struggling to find the route, struggling to find food, and struggling to figure out how to plan. Our first 3 days on the Camino del Norte were not at as blissful as we anticipated. However, these 3 days were critical to getting us into the Camino mindset, and shedding the expectations that held us back from adapting.

Who are Collin and Meredith?
In August of 2023 we left our corporate jobs to find out what it is like to live around the world. The fall of 2023 was spent exploring Europe, visiting friends, and learning our “travel style”. These are those stories :).
Currently, we are living in South America for the next six months traveling at a much slower pace & LOVING it.
Follow our journey as we learn from different cultures, make friends, and attempt to put the puzzle pieces of our world together.
The goals of our trip/experiment:
1) Experience life on all 7 continents.
2) Find (and eat) the best Cinnamon Rolls on the planet.
3) Take as many slow and deep breaths as possible in beautiful places.

The first few days were extremely deceptive! And we are still unsure. They had signs, and we had a map. And yet they never added up-and the distance were always off the first few days. Don’t worry, things sort them selves out. 😁

One of us packed efficiently, the other one needed lotions and potions 😂 I’ll let you guess which one. We also ended up smelling -but not due to lack of cloths! In an upcoming video we will put in a scene about packing up-thank you for the question!!

Thank you so much for watching! We started in Bilbao. It was a beautiful city. The official route starts a bit further east , but as we got a later start than expected, we divided Bilbao was good enough. Have you done a Camino before?

We did the first few days! But after that we stopped & found it was easier to just show up. That way you can be flexible if it rains or you want to go longer one day. We used booking.com a ton if the albergues were full 😊

Haha yes! It might seem crazy, but we love hiking/walking in these shoes. We've worn them for over 5 years now and can't recommend them enough. They're much easier to travel with and don't give us blisters 👍 Thanks for watching 💗
