My thoughts exactly. One reason we are such a bad place right now in America. Too many don’t do their homework but just vote party and then they pay zero attention to what these officials are doing. Corruption is running rampant and needs to be stopped. Too many officials believing they are above the law.

In fact it's wouldn't be a bad idea to show it to school kids from 4th grade on up through their 4 yrs of college. Love of country, a United States of America is nothing to take for granted...gosh I miss the film makers of the past, they knew this lesson well.

Terrific movie! Thank you for sharing. The speech at the end should be taught to every child in our schools. I'll be 69yrs. old tomorrow and we heard words like that constantly from all of our teachers because all of our fathers fought in WWII. I agree with Elvira Donaghy - drain the swamp! And, pray for our country every day. Heck, I'd be willing to pay More taxes if the money went to buy More Draino!
@RonaldOClair
@RonaldOClair 6 жыл бұрын
I did not get to see the Elvira Donaghy post, and Happy belated birthday to you. I too was raised in a different time, back when a citizen was aware of the duties and responsibilities that come with the citizenship bargain. There are far too many today who fail utterly to perform their civic duties and yet clamor about their "rights" when things don't go their way. They seem to have never been educated about what it means to be an American citizen. Having been a sworn "protector & defender" I am perhaps more aware than other people of my rights, duties and obligations of citizenship. This movie should be remade for today's times. There are many Municipal Governments that have been corrupted throughout our land in this very manner. People will never respect law enforcement if the law is not applied equally and fairly to all without favor or political patronage. I say we need to start cleaning house in Washington D.C. and make some examples out of some who have been getting away with crime for far too long now. People also need to do their civic duty to assist the local and state police forces to clean up the crime in their own communities, the police can't function without the community support that is essential to good law enforcement. This pervasive mentality throughout America that actually doing your civic duty and testifying about the crimes that take place in your own neighborhoods should be rewarded, not punished. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Make America Great Again, do your part and put a bite on the crime around you.

homer burns. The speech Frank Morgan gave at the end was so inspiring that I wrote it down in it`s entirety in my note book. I still think there is hope for the division in the USA to become less divided.

Frank Morgan was the wizard in “The Wizard of Oz...John Hodiak can be seen in a couple of non-speaking small shots. The judge played a phychiatrist in “Miracle on 34th Street”

I loved this movie and give it five stars! Wonderful in every aspect including comedy, performance and "politically" correct for that time and ours. Wish we had more like this - however, closest movie so far "Darkest Hour."

This movie reminds us of the changes made in our life time... Psalms 94:20 -- Can a throne of corruptionbe allied with you While it is framing trouble in the name of the law ? Read Daniel 2:44 to find out why Christ Jesus was appointed King of God's Kingdom.

Pay attention to the man behind the curtain that's.not the wizard of oz but it is frank morgan and he is the wizard of this little town giving the gift of choice and freedom, freedom of a mayor who has no heart,a hotel owner who has no brains,and a town who has no courage but in the end the same message there's no place like home

This is a very likable, if implausible little movie. Of course, being from MGM during its Studio Era height, it's a B-movie that happens to star Frank Morgan (really low key tho', almost w/o his usual mannerisms), has a supporting cast roster rivaling many a prestigious feature of the era, and packs more players in some scenes than appeared in all the Monogram releases from the same year. I presume the care taken and the earnest civics lesson story line were motivated by MGM hoping to please the OWI, during wartime keen to have Hollywood present American democracy as self-healing, a clear alternative to fascism. The film never quite convinced me that NO ONE in Crownpoint would recognize "Joe" Grant as an Associate Supreme Court Justice, although I realize that would have spoiled its last reel surprise. I presume we can chalk it up to a simpler time w/o 24-hour news channels. While the scene of Bill picking Lucy up at the station was probably too protracted and calamity-filled to be considered classy comedy, I did like the bit with her windblown hat (28:35) and would bet a tidy sum that it was devised by Buster Keaton, then a gag man squirreled away at MGM. Thanks for sharing!
