Hello there. I just found your channel yesterday, and am so excited. I’m a 54 year old mom from America who just started college after being out of school for 35 years. I’ve been searching for YT channels to help me learn how to study and motivate me, so I’m so excited to have found you. I’m just starting my 3rd semester, so I still have a ways to go. I had to smile when you were so excited about the American candy because I get excited to find things from where you live. If you have and American requests, let me know and I’d love to send you some. One of my favorite UK shops is Cath Kidston. We don’t have those here in America. Anyway, thank you for your content, it’s very helpful to me. Have a wonderful day.

I can’t explain how much you mean to me. I’ve been having a hard time at uni recently because I’m studying English literature and creative writing, and absolutely loving it, however the people in my seminars hate the degree so it’s hard to keep the enthusiasm for the subject when no one in my class feels the same passion for it. Question for Ruby; when your at home studying or doing assignments, how do you balance time with family and time studying? I am at university but am living at home, and I'm finding it hard to ignore the guilt that comes over me when I'm studying, as I feel I should be being more social and spending more time with family members. I often give in to this guilt and forfeit study time, which on more than one occasion has had a negative effect on my grades. Even though you are studying at home, your free time and daily activities seem so independent of your family members. I wish I could say the same, as I feel a sort of heavy responsibility to give up any free time I have away from studying to spend with my family. I feel like my time is not my own. Any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Ruby, As I reflect on your videos, I do remind myself, that…yes, I know I don’t have to be so incredibly organized, even as well put together. At times that’s a concern I keep in toward myself. But we are all part of a journey. And you have incredible open and caring parents that guided certain habitus (a Bourdieutian concept) and behaviors that are accepted and revitalized, and even reinforced through example, freedom to explore what you want and love, and yes, as well as habit. All of this plays an immense impact on your daily decisions, demeanor toward conflict, and your incredible outlook in life and your journey in it. Though I can never be quite like you, thank you so much for everything and for your beautiful videos. All the very best. -LK ps: Oh, the tablet is actually called ReMarkable, when you said "my remarkable tablet". 😊🌸

Dear Ruby, I am so excited to see you using a Remarkable tablet; I have wanted one since they first came out. I love the idea of a tablet that can be written on as if it's actually paper. I do most of my creative writing by hand because it gives me more time to think, but then having to type it up is so time-consuming. I'd love to just have Remarkable convert my handwriting into typed text. And being able to annotate my writing the way you do would be incredible!! In addition, I run an online essay grading service, and with Remarkable I could grade the essay by hand and still be able to return a digital document via email to my students. Seeing you use the Remarkable has encouraged me to start a savings fund to purchase one; perhaps the third iteration will be available by then, LOL!! :D I so enjoy your videos, Ruby. Even though I'm a teacher rather than a student, you provide a wonderful example of living a balanced life, and thus you inspire me!! :D I hope that you are planning to take a Master's degree (or even a Ph.D.) as you'd be an amazing teacher or college professor!! I'd love to watch your graduate school journey; mine was more than thirty years ago, but I adored graduate school -- my main areas of study were medieval literature (mostly British), 19th-century British literature (all genres), and poetry in general. Wishing you a productive week, Susanne near San Diego, California :)

As another option for you to consider, an iPad with the apple pencil, (doesn't even need to be the newest model, mine is a 2019 regular iPad, no pros here!) is another great option. It is more pricey however a screen protector such as paperlike can make an iPad super similar to Remarkable and you can annotate through different apps and convert to typed text, along with all the other functions of an iPad, along with typing capabilities if you have a keyboard. I just had a look on the websites, both apple and remarkable and it looks like a plain iPad is only 30 dollars more. Obviously would want you to check this out more for yourself + verify those costs but I hope that this helps you out.

TW: FOOD DISCUSSION /// To all the younger audience watching I want to make a disclaimer that this is NOT a normal or healthy diet. I’m in school for nutrition and I want everyone to know that it’s ok to eat full, healthy meals full of fat, protein, and carbs. I’m not going to comment on ruby’s eating habits as that’s her business, but i think i do think it’s dangerous to showing this and I want everyone to know that. Ruby, please stop showing your meals. Think of your fanbase.

I must admit that sometimes I actually watch her videos with the intention of triggering myself :(
@zeekee59952 жыл бұрын
@@e.a.coldrick Hi! Firstly, I want to say that I hope you don’t blame yourself for doing that, and I hope you know you’re not alone. My relationship with food is a lot better than it was, but even I relapsed back into unhealthy habits after watching this. I feel like i always have to remind myself that foods are a natural blessing that we are lucky enough to taste, feel, and consume and in return it keeps us healthy, alive, and strong. When you have those moments where it feels like it’s all too much and you want to watch Ruby, i highly recommend you watch KZbinr, abbey sharp instead. She is a dietician that gently reviews diets and meal plans and kindly explains how it can be improved with yummy proteins and fats. Her channel feels like a safe space when it comes to thinking about food. Secondly, I know this isn’t ruby’s 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time being told her content is concerning and triggering so it’s frustrating to see that she doesn’t seem to care that her audience is going to see her dietary habits and think it’s normal or healthy. I don’t want to assume what she’s possibly going through, but I do wish she were more private out of respect and consideration for her younger audience. I think it’s important that we speak out about it on her videos even if she personally refuses to acknowledge it. I didn’t mean for this to be that long. Sorry! (Edit: typos)

@@zeekee5995 I can't thank you enough for commenting this. I thought I was alone in experiencing this. As someone who has gone through very hard years of disordered eating and skipping meals, I have been finding her meals triggering. I would also have to say it's especially triggering the little amount she eats and in incredibly small portions. I have been watching her for a while and have also noticed her body has lost a lot of healthy weight. This personally is putting me off watching her videos, despite loving her study with me's and academic vlogs. It's devastating to watch but I can see it's not healthy. I'm sorry Ruby if this is a tough time. I hope you get some more help.

This is not a what I eat in a day, she has many videos where u see her eat 3 square meals and snacks. I understand where u are coming from, I’ve felt it in her content before but honestly I think we think when people show us 2 meals in a video it’s a reflection of their whole day which is a little unfair to make that jump. Again totally understand ur point but think people have blown this idea up regrading ruby and other KZbinrs
@zeekee59952 жыл бұрын
@@tylerj1207 Ruby has done a what i eat in a day video before, iirc, and still wasn’t a lot. These aren’t snacks, these are her meals and they still aren’t a lot. Where are the disclaimers then? Either way, young girls are still watching this and thinking this is a normal eating habit and it’s still not, and it’s still dangerous to promote either way.
