OMG! I should probably import that into my life since I've got many dark fascinations that I would love to learn more about, but I've got so much to do at the moment and I don't have any time to do extra stuff - I don't even have time to eat or sleep sometimes!

Although I am not a student, you must be a tremendous inspiration for today's students. I would like to think that if KZbin had been around when I was a student, your videos would have been a motivation to be a better one. I have hope for your generation precisely because of you.

Dear Ruby, I want to say that I am so incredibly grateful that you post youtube videos! Thanks to you, I became the best version of myself, as I do like studying but I never really embraced it the way I do since I watch your videos. You made me so much more productive and I also experienced the hygge-feeling you mentioned in one of your videos while studying. Now, I am the same bookworm I have been when I was younger, I love studying and do it quite a lot and I listen to a lot of classical music, all thanks to you and your KZbin videos. They made me quaint, grateful and more attentive to the small things in life ❤

Just a tip on saving time when doing citations/references: There are programmes that essentially do it for you!!✨🙏🏼😍 Personally, I use “zotero’. But a friend of mine, who studies English and German, uses “citavi” and is really happy with it☺️ Essentially, you add the books, articles etc. into a database once and then you can add them in word/libreoffice/pages etc. For zotero, there’s also a browser extension which automatically detects the meta-data of a book/article etc. and you literally have to click once to have all the information added into your database✨ And of course the programmes automatically do a bibliography for you, too. And you can choose between different citation styles etc. These programmes have saved me sooo much time and I always wonder why they are not more popular with students. It takes about five minutes to get the basics and saves time and also means less errors in citations🥳 would very much recommend trying it🤓✨ That being said, such a lovely video, Ruby! I enjoy these types of videos (minus you being stressed of course) so much, thank you for uploading them🥰

i always write the reference at the top when making notes on a reading. then when it comes time to do the reference list, i just copy in the references i've preprepared, so it all takes a lot less time (or, at least, the time is split up so it seems less cumbersome). also, word documents have a handy button in the top bar by all the indenting options that orders your reference list for you. it looks like an A over a Z with a downwards arrow next to it. saves a lot of time alphabetising it all and i couldn't believe i didn't know about it before.

There’s a website you can use to make all your references! You just put in the reference or link of your article and it does it for you with any style you want (you can choose like Cambridge, Oxford style etc), and they put it in alphabetical order too. I’ll give you the name of the site when I get home if you’re interested! Amazing video btw❤️

Congratulations on your 80's mark, so good. I was so happy when I got marks this high last year for essays, I hope it gives you confidence for the rest of the year. I'm so surprised you do refs at the end! this would be the end of me!! Honestly try doing them as you go, it's *so* much quicker. I just copy and paste mine in from the google scholar citation thing, or even just from the top of the paper, then I format them all at the end. Even if you have some you don't use it's so quick to scan through and check for any you didn't use and delete from the list. I did this bit for an essay I submitted this week w 50 references and it took a few minutes.

Hey Ruby, I was wondering if you have ever considered getting an extra monitor to use for your studies? It really helps alot when doing research and writing papers, especially with mental clutter and stress that comes from having to switch back and forth between tabs and the file(s) you are working on at that moment. I know they don't exactly fit in with the aesthetic of your room, but perhaps it's an option to get a small one that is stored away easily when you don't want to use it?

Hi Ruby: I just want to say I truly loved this video because not only did you honestly acknowledge that this essay was overwhelming you but you stepped away and allowed yourself to put your mental health first by taking a walk and, later, a break. Although they may not have written the essay for you, you allowed yourself the necessary space to not let it break you down and that is beautiful. Then, after you had submitted it, you gave yourself individual space to destress before the next taxing academic task. It is crucial for those watching Study Tube and Study Tubers to realise you all are real human beings who have highs and lows, stresses and utter joys. Academics is just as much a taxing thing, at times, as it is for everyone else. Thank you Ruby. ❤️, 🌹

I do not miss having to write papers! My favorite paper I wrote though was about Juno Diaz' book, the Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. My teacher thought it was so brilliant that she read it to the entire class. I actually got to use my nerdiness about the Lord of the Rings in that one which was so fun. The most fun I ever had writing a paper for school. Now I write personal essays for fun. :)

I related so badly to the essay stress in this video - I've been on an emotional rollercoaster with a chapter of my dissertation and feel like I just cannot seem to word it right now matter how many times I've tried to write certain sections. For the ordering of references in your bibliography, as long as you make them in different paragraphs on Word you can then use the A-Z tool and it puts them in alphabetical order for you! (Tip I learnt far too late into my degree and wish I'd known sooner)

hey ruby i don't know if you'll read this, but if you're using word to write, save & export the essay (or any paper), you can use the integrated function of putting in references. you'll put them in each individually & then click on "add bibliography" and it'll put that in automatically (in the reference system you use for uni - you can choose that as well!). hope this helps!

What a coincidence, I'm also currently writing an essay and I have to submit it by the end of this week. I'm that kind of person who can't just write and then edit afterwards, I keep proofreading and editing with every paragraph I write which can be exhausting 😆 Mine is about second person PoV in narration in two novels that I have chosen. It's a lot of work but it's also really interesting!

You’re doing references by hand 😱 I would really recommend looking into some referencing software (you need one of you plan to stay in academia as different journals require different referencing formats - so being able to change these with just a click is a must). Great video 🙂

Hey, great video, here's a quick tip that might help in your case ! When I get confused while choosing the best version from my drafts, I simply take an unbiased opinion (may be from a relative or a good friend / also from a parent if you think that they can give you " a true" opinion). It helps to get a fresh perspective !! You can also ask your lecturer or the supervisor if it is possible :) Good Luck for the upcoming exam.

Hello Ruby, just in case it is of interest to you, could you find something on sleeping practices in the Victorian age? Apparently in the medieval years and maybe even earlier people used to sleep very early of course and there seemed to be a break in the middle of the night, where they would wake up and depending on class, situation etc would do some chores or relax and then go back to sleep!! two-phase sleep .
