After watching this video last week I decided to do a compatibility test,I have about 2lbs of this stuff and don't use it much because of how frustrating it is to work with even after pre heating. So last night I tested a few colors with some Effetre and well it's not compatible,it all curled. I thought it was supposed to be and had been occasionally using small amounts of it with my other glass and hadn't noticed any problems but now that I've actually tested it I will only be using it with it's self.

Hi buttercup! That is probably a wise choice. Although I have found this color to work sometimes, if I decide to use it I will use it with itself as well! It is frustrating… But at least you don’t have a whole bunch! I have about the same amount as you do and after I did this demo I have yet to use any of it. I will at some point, perhaps just for some spacers! Thanks so much for your comment! R -😁🖤🌹

You do a great service in demonstrating a glass like Devardi. Glad I never used it. I get enough glass splattering with Bullseye 90 coe. The dense white is like missile flying. Once you get it going it is fine usually. I am having trouble with striking colors. Have to rewatch your videos. Thanks Robin.

Hi Vicki! 🤗💫 I was really hoping this glass was going to be easier to use….I loved the violet colors, but some of them looked identical to each other. Aside from the glass rod, Devardi has some good tools with decent prices! ✨🌹 Striking colors are interesting….if you let it cool down then slowly heat it up a little at a time the color starts to emerge. It takes some playing around with at first! But you will get it….if not…let me know!!🙏🏽😂 Cheers- Robin 🌈✨✨

I have learned with devardi to annealing it at a higher temperature prevents cracking. Lauscha require a higher temp. So I just stuck to that for all my beads. I will agree with the purples seem to blend. Personally I encase most of my beads. Using their opaque color I tend to lose the saturation of the color. I tend to lean more to their transparent colors.

Ohhh thank you so much Valinda! I am so glad for that tidbit of insight to working Devardi. I usually hold my work at 1000°. Do you use a higher temperature? I would love to be able to use what I have left, which is a lot. Are you just using Devardi? Or are you using different 104 together? Sorry for the questions… I am so interested! 🌹✨🌹✨R-

Glad you did this video. It lived up to every negative thing I’ve been told from other bead makers. I personally wouldn’t want to invest money in glass that would not be compatible with all my other 104 glass. I’ve been doing this for 25 years and have been very fortunate and it’s kind of uncanny that I’ve never had a big break or crack.

That is pretty amazing that you’ve never experienced “incompatible cracking “. It has happened to me a few times….but never with 104 glass. It was always in the HotShop whilst making large blown or solid pieces. Or accidentally using a boro clear rod thinking it was 104…..or not annealing properly. I’m disappointed with Devardi and will not buy it again…. This is the first contact I’ve had with it and I know all I need to know about it now! Lol! I also have been in blowing/flameworking and melting glass for about 25 years…. And although I love trying new colors, I’m going to stick with what works for me! I still can’t believe that you have never experienced cracking! That’s crazy and I am jealous…😂😂 Thanks so much for your comment and Enrico, have a great holiday. Mine is beginning with a lovely visit to get another tooth pulled out of my skull. The only good thing about this visit is the nitrous oxygen. The rest of the day is a washout! Take Care, R- ✨🔥👍🏽

I think I didn’t make my comment clear. I’ve never had any beads crack using compatible glass.

I'm so glad I saw this video. I have been eyeing Devardi because of their prices. If you find a good annealing temperature would you let us know?
@scottwoodresearch3 жыл бұрын
Hey Karen! I almost always have my annealer set to 1000. I will hold for 1 hour at this temp before cooling begins. That has been my best temperature for all 104 glass. Works great for both thin and thicker pieces of glass. However, If I am using borosilicate, I will bump it up to 1050. 😃. The Devardi works beautifully…. But I found slight incompatibility with it. Perhaps it was the batch? 🤨I am clueless as to why I had some cracking issues. Thank you so much for the comment! 😍🔥🌹

I wasted some cash on their glass rod as well. It’s just not worth all the aggravation. Yes, it’s cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Hi Melissa! 😅💫 I agree….its too bad though. The colors are really beautiful, but if I think there is a chance of cracking or incompatibility then I stay away! In the meantime these color rods are all collecting dust on the shelf behind me. 😞 Thanks for your comment! 🌹✨ Hope you are well! Cheers- Robin 🌈✨💫

Compatibility check.. do you know about the stringer technique? Online forums are not friendly towards devardi.. cheap and unpredictable
@scottwoodresearch3 жыл бұрын
I honestly did not think about doing the stringer compatibility test before I started. I didn’t think I was going to have to! I have not heard many good things about this type of glass either. It was worth a shot. It is unfortunate for this company. They really need to work on their recipes and get it perfected before marketing it. 🧐 Thanks for your comment Robert! 🔥👍🏽

Ugh this glad is my nemesis 😂 I have about four lbs of it just sitting waiting for me to get my kiln up and running ! After fighting with it popping and cracking and exploding 💥 🤯 I gave up trying to work with it and just bought double helix ,fireworks & effetre . Ooo I learned a lot for this video ! Thank you 😊 !! absolutely not a fan of this glass! 🫶🏼💚🫶🏼

Hi Spring! 🤗🌹 It’s really to bad that their glass is so poppy….I was also hoping for some new user friendly material to play with! Oh well…it seems like everyone has a bit of this on the shelf collecting dust. 😂 Hope you’re having a lovely day! Cheers- Robin 🌈🙏🏽
