I'm so curious about the guy behind John in the plane. He looks so weary of life. Like, what's his story, what is he listening to? Why does he look so sad?
@Tigermond19 жыл бұрын
I like that question. I mean, I like that you think about a guy who just appeared for a few seconds at the end of a video and probably wasn't even nearly seen as a full and complex human being by anybody else watching it. But I would say that you just don't know. You don't know if he's sad (I mean, seriously, he just sits in a plane listening to music - you can't smile all the time, that would be creepy), and you don't know if he's a psycho or the nicest person on the world. But it's interesting to imagine all those possibilities and never told stories.

I love this video because it feels very old school. It's a parts video and it's an airport vidoe and John is just talking to the camera like we're hank, so that's refreshing. This is not to say that I don't love the new stuff, I love the new stuff, but this with its informality seems more intimate, reminds me that there was a time when even though we were a relatively large community still, it was about these two guys just having a relationship with each other. Also by far my favorite part is when John gets on the plane and the guy behind him is clearly uncomfortable for what I'm guessing is a number of reasons.

I want to buy your shirt John but I am afraid of people who wont understand the reference whatsoever and strike of random conversations with me asking why I'm wearing a T-shirts hating on specific superheroes. Typically people don't buy a shirt calling out something they don't like. :( You may lose this not because of your position, but rather because on the idea of wearing a shirt that is kind of dissing someone. You guys should make like a poll of some sort afterwards to get a second opinion
@DayzleGamer9 жыл бұрын
Think Fact I agree, "we are all bat people" it's simply funny with or without context. "Batman is is the rich guy with an infinity for bats" is a bit of a mouth full and not really as funny. Regardless of whether it's a valid point or not. It could be potentially awkward to wear, as with anything that is dissing something. They should have a poll afterwords for second opinion.

When I show up at NerdCon, I hope to have a story ready to tell about the strange engagement that resulted between the star-crossed lovers who met and fell in love despite coming from the two warring factions that had developed at VidCon 2015 when the remarkably unwise decision to hold a "GIF Gala" occurred, and huge fights broke out over how it should be pronounced. Hopefully it will be a short story, although it may turn out to be fairly epic. Hopefully.

That would be one proposed solution, of course, but it still devolves into physical combat when they have to decide which pronunciations come first. Taking suggestions for casts in the lead roles for the movie production now, although presumably one of the factions will be lead by Nat Wolff.

@PaunchyPanda9 жыл бұрын
***** You know, I read your comment "It's 'jif' " just like the peanut butter so ... win/lose?
@EliasShaefer9 жыл бұрын
***** Well the problem is this: The creator of .gif says it is pronounced like the peanut butter, but it is named after Graphics Interchange Format, which the g in graphics has a hard g sound. So if you want to inherent the pronunciation property from graphics it would be gif with a hard g. However, there is no rules of sound inheritance when saying an acronym. Therefore, you can pronounce it as it's own word disregarding how the g in graphics is said, which means it could very well have a soft g sound (or a "j" sound) such as gem, giraffe, giant, gentle, gym, general, etc. Option 1: Pronounce gif with a hard g because graphics has a hard g and the g in gif stands for graphics. Option 2: Pronounce gif with a soft g because the creator says it is pronounced like jif, which grammatically is sound because there are a number of cases that support it and there are no inheritance rules for acronym pronunciation. I choose option 2 personally, because it is both grammatically sound and supported by the creator saying it is pronounced that way. But when it comes down to it, you can say it however. After all, the pronunciation of a file type abbreviation is not worth an argument, especially when both pronunciations are potential valid.

Some memorable moments from the Detroit show: Not pants Hank wearing Jeanette's hat and saying when he's wearing the hat he's John and when he's not wearing a hat he's himself. I would buy the "We are all Batpeople" shirt, but my husband prefers the other. :) But that stems from an ongoing 10+ year argument of Batman's relevance as a superhero. Yay for nerdy marriage arguments!

On love and Nerdfighteria: Introduced my GF to you guys' vids, and she likes them! I wonder if she's had time to watch the extreme backlog on your channels? Speaking of, I told my best friend: "See that guy? He's been doing this for seven years." He replied: "I'm walling myself in to binge, and I'm bringing the spelunking equipment!" ~ TDG

I cannot believe that I missed Hank's tour. And I was even a Nerdfighter back then so I have no excuse

Aww who else smiled at the 'nerdfighter like -> nerdfighter love' part?

and with all this nerdfighterlike turning into nerdfighterlove, because the biggest thing in common they have is you, there will be nerdfighterbabies, and these nerdfighterbabies you will never meet will have their whole nerdfighter existence down to you.

I live in Belgium! Well, ok, I'm an exchange student in Belgium but the first time I visited the Antwerp grand central station and rode the suuuper long escalator all i could think of was that video you did there and "winkels to the left, winkels to the right"

To be fair John whilst your argument does have less appeal your design is much sleeker and visually appealing.

Okay, I haven't watched the video yet, but let me guess: John's opening words are going to describe him being in the one place he hates more than anything. And he's going to say something along the lines of, "As you can once again tell by the gray speckled walls behind me, I have found myself, once again, in a stunning turn of events, in an airport!"

I really wish I could buy one of your shirts John! I totally agree with you on batman and want to support you. WHY AM I ALWAYS SO BROKE?

Hooray for a classic 'parts' style video!!!! Also, speaking of Helen Hunt, when are you two gonna slip up enough to get a punishment? :P

There is also that Nerdfighter couple that you called over phone to propose and they got married. ^^

I agree with Sarah. That was my first thought about the new T-shirt designs as well.

NylahK Do you mean that that design is more popular or that his quote is better?

"Attend a Gala" has been on my bucket list for a while. Also attending a *small* laundry list of nerd/geek cons. C2E2, SDCC, NYCC, VidCon...etc. What's on your life bucket list?

Hoping to meet lots of Nerdfighters tonight in Pittsburgh!!! The end of the video made me nervous, glad you made it on your plane in time. Lol! I really want to buy both t-shirts. But my bank account says, "no." Also, I prefer the "Batman is just a man with an infinity for bats" shirt. Who wouldn't want that shirt?! Thanks for clearing up the gala/gala thing. I never know what to say so I just say both. DFTBA.

I just stopped this video a minute in so I could pre-order your shirt, John. Even if your wife doesn't support your shirt design, you can rest well knowing that a stranger in Middle America does.

Actually before I went to the concert in Chicago my youngest sister said I should meet someone there so I could eventually marry him. I was like 'Yeeea-probably not. I just want to focus on not dying as I'm the one driving the car there and back with other people in it whom I must also keep alive." However, I did meet most of the performers including Hank, so it was a pretty awesome day.

So I was out of the country for about a week and I came back and saw I had some vlogbrothers videos to catch up on, and I was promptly devastated when I learned I'd missed my possibly sole opportunity to acquire a shirt that says, "Batman's just a rich guy with an affinity for bats."

It's always somewhat odd/interesting to see John at the Indy Airport, seeing places that are basically just normal, everyday places that you've been to, except that you know that 'famous' or well known people have been in the exact same places. IDK, I think it's interesting anyways...
