A Subscriber Took Me to his BEAUTIFUL 9.2.6 Dolby Atmos Home Thater!

Great gear setups throughout his home and his home theatre is truly impressive. The fact that he did most of the work himself and in such a flawless, professional way with the builds, the raised flooring, the carpeting, colour scheme, etc. just blows my mind. What makes this Home Entertainment Setup a Winner is the owner built it from scratch while building his home! Owning one of LGs early HD 3D projectors, it is obvious how models like his Epson are more advanced when it comes to viewing with any type of lighting on. Salute!

Really enjoyed this video! Great to see folks like me into this hobby. He did an amazing job on that entire setup. I have a 9.4.4 JBL Synthesis setup with AVM90 handling processing. As you found there is very little content mixed for front wides in most movies. What I ended up doing is use XLR Y cables to split the surround content to hit both rows of side surrounds and it made for much better immersion. Also in Anthem ARC, you can reassign height channel data. ARC also has a habit of tuning down the bass in favor of more balance sound. I would recommend making sure you have the latest firmware installed then bumping up the room gain in ARC and tweaking the sub gain levels to see if that helps 👍🏼

Great setup, love the theatre. If you want a free upgrade to make things more cinematic, looks like you have TruMotion enabled on the OLED and Frame Interpolation on the Epson, unless you particularly like that look give it a go with that disabled (or maybe it’s just the KZbin video making it look that way).

I currently have a 7.2.6 I had to disable my front heights and make my middle heights into my front heights. The problem is that most atmos tracks don’t support 6 heights. When that happens only the middle heights will play atmos information. There are very few that do support it. At least at the moment. Just have him unplug his fronts from the amplifier move the mids to its location and recalibrate. He will be happy he did.

Great setup so far and I agree with you that it is better to use 4 Atmos instead of 6 but I would recommend using the wides because they are going to be mixed in the future and will give you the best experience more installers are installing them now. Looking forward to the next video and I am looking at a small sub for my center using a mini dsp to keep the lows out of the center . I’m going to be watching how you guys execute this plan and I will be making a decision on how much it will add.

It didn't go into it too much in the next video but how I decided to set his center sub up was to run his 4 subs on the mini dsp connected to the subwoofer 1 output on his anthem and then put the center channel sub on subwoofer output 2 and bypass the crossover on the anthem so that we can can control it on the subwoofers themselves. That way his main 4 subs play LFE and the center sub can play as high as it wants to.

Lovely, wonderful home theatre space. His setup is screaming for a Trinnov, though. To better implement the 6 overhead, and to maximize his subwoofer optimization, especially if he employs waveforming.

@@Kpaceguy My theatre room is only 1m larger either way but I don’t have the bulkheads that your subscriber has. Although I have in ceiling speakers for Atmos which sometimes are hard to hear, my personal plan is to swap them out in favour of mounted bookshelves for my Atmos and aim them towards the listening position. I would think even more so because of a bulkhead surrounding the in ceiling speakers in your video. In my testing I have found that a half decent bookshelf speaker does not look as good mounted for Atmos but the results were better for me in a roughly the same size room as your subscriber owns. I only have 4. My ceiling height is only 8ft with no bulkhead. I hope this info can help.

Great video KPace. If his receiver wasn’t an Anthem, maybe he would consider Auro 3d. The 6 Atmos speakers would then work fine in that configuration. By the way, what is you opinion of Auro 3d? Are you a proponent of Auro?

I upmix Atmos context to Auro 3d via Denon 6800. It gives an added overhead effect, especially to lackluster Atmos mixes.

Great set up and room Kareem but i couldn't disagree more about the 6 Atmos speakers. Run a new ARC with the anthem and try again. the middle Atmos speakers will only and should only play where 4 would be trying to create a phantom sound between the front and back Atmos . Anthem AVM 70 will only direct sounds to the middle Atmos speakers when they are required. The 2 movies you demo'd may not have just had a great emphasis on 6 Atmos heights . The 6 Atmos may sound under utilized at this time brother but look at it as future proofing.
