Very nice group of coins. Of course, I'm a type coin fan, so I picked the half cent. That's a beauty!

I was on eBay yesterday looking at all the Washington Quarters seeling with PCGS holders and the 37 P quarter in higher grades is deceptively more expensive than its earlier counterparts. I was surprised so when I saw the coin I said on the more expensive of submissions. Great video Daniel!

Great video, Daniel. It's always enjoyable watching what grade you get when you open your return submission box. Finding what grade you received and the anticipation of each coins grade. Thanks for sharing and all that you do for the hobby. Have a nice day.

I wish you could get any notes the graders use to determine the grade back with the submissions. Like why did it it look like a 66 but got a 64 sort of thing. I remember when I did my first submission to pcgs I called to question the value for insurance shipping purposes on a few coins as, on some coins one grade can make all the difference between a 10 dollar coin and a hundreds or thousands dollar coin. And they flat out told me that I should know the grade already and submit it accordingly. The main purpose too was also one grade higher could determine which grading tier to pay for. So if you think it's a 66 or 67 and pay for that tier but it comes back lower and would have qualified for a lower tier, you still pay the higher tier. Still a little dissallusioned by the whole thing😢

Thanks Daniel for sharing these. I do like ANACs as well for their net grade on the problem coins. Not that it matters..lol...not lieing and with out a peek at any price guide..my guess was either the CC or 1/2 Cent but I leaned toward the CC first. I did pick the Washington Q MS66 after those. 😁

Thanks for the great videos, keep it up. Also, I believe all the grading companies are the same just some have better marketing than others. They all use the same ANA standard “I would hope anyway” but I personally like ANACS slab’s best as you can find coins at a glance. And as a Morgan fan it was a no brain’r on top value.

I feel like ANACS is the most underrated grading company. They used to be iffy but now they are just as Good if not better than pcgs and ngc.

I managed to pick 1 out of the 3. Messed up big time on the CC dollar. Placed it about #5. That is why I don't gamble. Bad odds against me.. Second thought 🤔 I actually did pretty good as I have had Two TBI Traumatic Brain Injuries thanks to serving my country. Not bitching as I knew what I was doing volunteering especially during a time of war.

I was betting on the MS-66 quarter. Also I agree with those grades being off. I think someone made a clerical error and wrote down the 66 and 64 in the wrong spots on their little sheet. That kind of thing will always happen so long as humans do all the inputs.

It's the luster that took the quarter to 66 over the MS64 example, imho. Nice video, thanks!

I'm guessing that some of the subjective differences between the grading of mint state Washington quarters comes from the attempt to differentiate between early die output vs minor mint handling. There's no such thing as a perfectly minted coin, the second use of the dies will give a slight difference as well as inconspicuous differences between planchettes, and then there's the trip down a chute and into bagging.

Talk about inconsistencies in grading. In my opinion, the 1936 quarter is a higher grade than the 1937. The only thing I will use grading companies for is whether or not the coin is genuine. I buy coins for how they look, not for the holder. That's why I love my 1921-D Morgan.
@CoinHELPu

Yeah, I would love to know their reason for each grade. I think it would even make the company a better grading company to explain why and print a card out for each coin. Might help stop mislabeling as well.

I've highly considered using anacs. I just can't figure out the submission form lol I have some higher end and lower end coins but not very many. How far back of grey sheet would you value a coin in anacs vs pcgs or ngc

Idk about anacs to be honest, I’ve made a video where I compare the differences between a single grade point and it was quite drastic to see what anacs considered one grave vs pcgs. Overall though for the price and service it absolutely is a good value, but how much less will it sell for being in a anacs holder when using the pcgs price guide value based on assigned grade? If it’s not too much of a resell difference then anacs will surely but slowly become the as good if not better then pcgs or ngc?

Dan, why do the grading companies indicate the color of pennies, such as red, brown, red brown, etc... I mean can't you just look at it and tell the color? They don't mention toning shade of any other denominations??
@typeviic1
@typeviic1 3 ай бұрын
Because the RD (red) color fetches the most value. RB second, BN third. So, the grading company is the final arbiter of copper color.
@thewolfe1099
@thewolfe1099 3 ай бұрын
@@typeviic1 interesting. It's my understand that the slabs are not air tight. Couldn't pennies continue to oxidize and change from the cookie they were graded? Seems to be the best way to tell what color a penny is, is simply to look at it, rather that reading about it ? 😁
