Having owned a trawler myself, I would recommend installing a simple seawater pump for the anchor chain cleaning and two, I would have a spare of the things that can stop you dead in your tracks if they fail. A starter, fuel pump, water pump etc. Congrats on getting the old girl's feet wet!

A ring type spray nozzle works really well. The nozzle is a complete circle that the chain passes through and it sprays all sides of the chain.

We’ve started cleaning up after 8 years working onboard and getting into the exhaust system next; we’ve got to get ready to be on anchor and independent. We’ve had a couple of light weeks and back into it! Thank you everyone for your incredible support! We love you! J

Scuppers not wet yet. Captain Damo will be thinking of changing name to Captain nemo. But it depends how many times he has seen "Pirates of the Caribbean ". If many watch out. No captains or first mates hats yet. I use a frillneck to protect face while out at sea. It's the deep water with a swell that brupeg needs. Amazing work done by all.

As a retired warrant officer coxswain in the Australian Navy Seatrials are for getting all systems up to speed after a major refit ,it is tedious hard work and very demanding by slowly eliminating problems that will raise their ugly heads under pressure at sea , the crew has to be heavily involved and trained in this process so buckle up viewers if you think they now sail off to foreign lands next week you will be disappointed ,good luck Brupeg and all who sail in her

Great transition! I owned a boat repair shop and I always had a stainless drip pan made to put under the engine and drive system and put drip diapers in them so it was easy to see a leak and easy to clean up. And yes there are always those that are jealous and try to be hurtful. Wonderful to see you underway even for a short time. I also installed a water jet where the anchor chain comes up where it will wash the chain before it and the wash water comes inside.

The first dark night bucking into it while watching for logs in the water, you will wish you could see past your bow. Consider repainting with a darker color, and you will increase your visibility immensely. Flat black is good. Battleship Grey works. My personal preference is Flat Dark Red. Good Job getting her going, and good Luck out there.

After these many years, when I first saw the thumbnail for this video, my brain threw a "does not compute message" when it saw BruPeg on open water under her own power. Congratulations to the entire crew that took on the monumental job of not only restoring the boat to working condition, but doing so in a way that ensures it will be around for a long time, and in a way that potentially has taught thousands of others the skills and thought processes that go in to a labor of love like BruPeg. On the water, getting comfortable with the systems and deficiencies. Mastering feathering the controls/steering to jockey Brupeg in reverse. There seems to be a minor misalignment of the anchor chain dropping into the anchor locker. The upright piece of deck pipe seems slightly forward of the chain falling off the windlass roller. A tendency to kink or bunch up, dropping at a slight angle. The chain does not naturally drop straight in. With Birk and Duncan gone, you and Jess can take a temporary celebratory break. Then start the small fixes, clean-up and reorganization. Afterwards moving forward with the Genset muffler, window installation, troublshooting engine gage issues, etc. The ability to anchor or hook up to a mooring. Testing the anchor in heavy winds and big sea fare soon with extra staff. Lots more sea trials, testing the various systems and getting baselines.

Your crew needs headsets for comms in close quarters. Helps out wonderfully for clarity. Your email sender is a classic case of if some people didn't have a life that sucked they wouldn't have one at all. Awesome to see Brupeg underway. Nice sounding diesel. Bump-n-Back works well since a single screw doesn't like to respond to rudder when in reverse. Back up, drift back, set rudder, forward to realign, back again, repeat ad-nauseum. Done it for years.
