First video that came up when looking for info on rifle given to me by grandfather. It's the exact same except mine had original stock. So cool to get the history.

I’m not sure when mine was restocked, but it would be cool to find an original.

Yes that is a NEAT 22lr rifle, I like it but then again I love my 22lr rifles. They are CHEAP to shoot and can be QUITE ACCURATE as well. I recently picked up on a INTERESTING small 22lr rifle that appears to be made for a child or small person. It's slender and light and very well made. I got on the internet and the ONLY rifle that I could find that is VERY SIMILAR to except for a slightly different stock was for sale by one of those online gun auction site (difference was mine didn't have a cheek piece). It said it was a PRE-WWII ANSCHUTZ. The receiver had BUA on the top in front of the chamber like mine. Mine also had the front sling swivel go through the barrel, not attached to it. The bolts were the same bolt configuration (2 piece with a sliding tray for easy loading the chamber. The machining of the chamber was IMPRESSIVE, the extractor was not a small hock like what you are used to seeing on 22lrs it had a split chamber, half of the chamber pulls on the lower half of the cartridge rim so the extraction is definitely positive. You DON'T see that too often in 22lrs. I LIKE IT, IT'S A COOL SMALL LIGHTWEIGHT 22lr RIFLE. I have no idea what the model number is but I'm going to take it to a gun show in a little more than 2 weeks that is sponsored by the North Carolina Gun Collectors Association which I'm a LIFE MEMBER and I'm going to take it to the show because I was told by another life member that the president of the club used to collect old German 22lr rifles so I'm anxious to see what he says about it. If someone offers enough for it I may sell it, I will be 70 in a week so I need to think about scaling down. Unfortunately I have acquired too many TOYS over the last 10 years. 🤔😯😞

Thank you for this video!! Couldn't find any info on this particular one. Just picked one up at a farm yesterday in rough shape, serial number is 1600. I must have the original stock mine has checkering on the rear handle and no inlet on the front like yours in the video.

Mine has a newer (probably 80 year old) stock on it. Nice find and I hope you can refurbish it…if you do, let me know how it shoots!

@@ncshootist not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. On a side note your video says 1586 is highest entry of serial number? Not sure if mine was made with leftover parts but it's 1600. Some differences I noticed, mine has a curved bolt handle. But!!! I cannot confirm 100% mine is the Mod2 version like yours because mine has some sort of ugly scope mount unit with 4 screws holding it on. And groves on the rear of the receiver to lock it in or something? I have no idea!!! 😆

Sad to say, I was at an auction sale last year, there was one there without a bolt. I got it and a couple others without bolts cheap. What I found out was that likely I would never find a bolt for it. Still nice to see a complete one.

Just bought #432 . It would be interesting to know how many and when these rifles were imported to the USA. Must be the 1920’s if his grandfather had it when growing up.

Nice find! These rifles were made sometime between 1919-1920. My grandfather was born in 1910, and he got it sometime around 1920.

The stock has, at least, been refinished. Rifles of that period did not have shiny 'bowling pin' finishes.

I just picked up #250 today while browsing around a small shop in town. I've never seen or even heard of it til the day I bought. It just looked really interesting, and after I saw all the markings on the gun, for $100 out the door, I had to buy it. Hopefully it works.

Hey there! Fellow North Carolinian here. I inherited one of these recently that belonged to my 2x great-grandfather, and I can confirm that yours has been restocked, as the stock on mine is exactly as you described. What does yours shoot? Like yours, mine has "22 LG" etched on the barrel, but anytime I try to shoot .22 long rifle from it the casings fail to eject, and I have to pry them out with a flathead screwdriver. I've heard online of others having issues shooting 22 long rifle, as well as the fact that "22 LG" could be refering to something other than .22 long rifle. Any insight?

Thanks for watching! From research I’ve done, it looks like it may be the old 22 Winchester Rimfire forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?120696-Gewher-Fabrik-Danzig-22-with-scope. Mine shoots 22 LR well enough, but sometimes I can feel powder hitting my forehead from the gap between the receiver and the bolt. I tried taking the bolt apart for cleaning but wasn’t successful. These are really neat little rifles.

.22 lang (in english long) is the same as .22 lr maybe there is a ejector Issue. These rifles often loosen the ejector and then be replaced by a similar not 100% fitting one. And remember this rifle is older than the high and hv-ammo.
