Face Melter has blown up the Aliens' planet... He is the reason for the cataclysm Big Mask blames himself for not preventing. In retrospect, Face Melter of all the characters is the least deserving of Big Mask's forgiveness, being a literal source of his guilt complex. And yet.
@radjetpack631 Жыл бұрын
Funnily enough, the point of Face Melter is to straight up stop this kind of villains, like the first guy who wants to burn it all down. And his first reaction when using the mask was to literally obliterate the entire planet. Not only does this makes Face Melter an hypocrite, it also puts him to the same level as the bad guys who he so proudly stops to "save lifes"
@ndfdm5705 Жыл бұрын
I think facemelter feels guilty over it and he didn't do it intentionally because he hears about big mask back story he talks about "responsibility" and how big it was. He could of said he wasn't sure if it was real, a jape or that the mask was meant for him. Loads of things but instead he talks specifically about responsibility and how he can't blame himself - refering to big mask - for not reacting right with something so sudden. In his own words "I put on the mask, flew a planet, met some aliens, blew stuff up and went home" the dismissiveness and curt way of describing something so big is HIM being uncomfortable. He goes from saying it wasn't fair to it's not a big deal -in the way he refers to them- I think the point being is is that face melter is the opposite of big mask but ultimately with the same guilt. Hence the "need to be nicer to myself" message is nailed in. Just like how big mask feels guilt and a level of self hate for his failures, so does face melter bvut they both reacted poorly or with confusion to sudden, massive responsbility and power. I suspect that if we learn more of face melter back story it would of been more of an accident or "monkey with a machine gun"...or rather, super powered mask, deal. It would explain somewhat why he has a gripe against big mask - his inaction meant no one was there to help or stop him - and why he continues to fight villains. Even if he craves power, he still wants to fight bad guys. In his way..he is a bizzaro, violent big mask who has pushed himself more and more to do things his way - which has become corrupted from issues - and hence why he wants to do it faster and better. Because he has to...he has to keep going in order to atone, to even the scales.

I really like the genuine progression of threats to big mask’s philosophy. At first it was someone who wasn’t understood by others or himself and just lashed out and needed the genuine help big mask provided. The second was a monster who was genuinely himself and did not need big mask’s help or approval but a possible change in trajectory in how they handled themselves and that was something that THEY needed to figure out themselves without big mask. The third and final guy is someone who poses the most direct opposition to big mask and questions the very philosophy that big mask has, but at the end of the day the key to why they lash out is that they are all misunderstood and they all are feel shunned.

Well while i do think most of Face Melters' speech, if not all of it, was made to manipulate Big Mask i still feel like he brought up some good points like Big Masks sole reason for helping being guilt driven, the inactivity of his heroism due to it being guilty driven & Big Mask's neglection of his own mental/physical health, all things which Big Mask ends up taking a step back to think about in the end I won't tell you not to hate something since it's a very natural emotion but i will ask you to think about the reason you hate Face Melter, since he does actually do some good & has some valid points even if his intention isn't completely altruistic
@elenafriese891 Жыл бұрын
@@zomeone4507 most of it is just that I've gotten into *really* bad arguments with people I liked that weren't in good faith. In some cases even about the capital punishment adjacent stuff Face Melter talks about! (Though obviously the undertone of "making up excuses to be lazy and completely uncaring while also power tripping about being able to kill people as much as I feel like without needing to answer to anyone*" didn't apply) I wouldn't wish the "pick your battles about expending your energy on stuff that freaks you out" learning curve on *anyone.* Especially not someone *that* empathetic and willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. (Though it is making me more appreciative of Batman's no kill thing) * His first excuse for _killing a man that was extremely open to help_ is "I was saving you time" before spiralling into dumber and dumber "philosophical" excuses that only manage to show the "might-makes-right therefore I don't need to think about *any* morals other than my own and what lets me do what I like" framework he's working from
@facundosilveira5535 Жыл бұрын
@@elenafriese891 face-melter was completely in the wrong and his motivation was entirely selfish. With that said some of the points he made where actually true, big mask isn't doing anything a therapist couldn't do, he could just become a therapist and give the mask to someone he trusts to fight the people who truly can't be reasoned with, as a last resort. When a monster attacks, big mask isn't the only one who's life is in danger, but everyone in the city is, if the monster just decides to kill big mask then not only will he die but everyone else will follow him soon after. The only thing he can do with the mask that he couldn't do without it is to become big to get on their level to have a one on one conversation, which he wouldn't need to do if there was a team of heroes specialized in capturing the monsters so big mask could help them sort out their problems. But until that system is built being big mask truly makes the difference, since uncaring heroes like facemelter would just make the monsters spiral into a mindset of "if they treat us like monsters then we should act as such". Now that i think about it, therapists should be a bigger thing in prisons, after all their pourpose is the reform the inmates, not punish them. I guess the worst part of manipulative people is that they speak the truth to some degree, and they use that to their advantage.

If big mask did get a therapy degree i'd have no doubt in my mind he'd be the best hero for everyone's mental health, as long as he can help and care for himself he will be happy and so will others, i do hope what he knows and what he does is truly heroic and he's truly a great guy

Man I love this series so much. This is the most deep and engaging super hero show I've ever seen... well not that I watch lots of super hero shows, but still. I've always found it way more interesting when characters go deep and talk it out, instead of just smash everything to solve their problems, be they villains or the heroes. Thanks for working so hard on these!

I never thought I'd get so invested into this, and I ended up crying on this one. Bigmask is really the most powerful, I wish I could help others out even without being a therapist.... I'm not the best at saying the right things at the right time, and most attempts of comforting my significant other most of the times won't be successful... I'm not a therapist, I've been to therapy a couple of times, and things that were said to me and worked do not work for others, neither I can analyse people that well to 'fight back' just like Big Mask did.... But then again, I guess I can do other things successfully, we're still together for 9 years and we've been through a lot and I managed to at least help them find feel a bit better most of the times... So perhaps even if my words aren't what they want to hear, I figure other stuff out that managed to assist in making them feel better. So I'll be kinder to myself, just like Bigmask insisted they should be. Sometimes it tastes a bitter to know that loving ourselves is something we have to actively remember doing, instead of it being something automatic, like breathing... It helps us stay alive, yet we have to remind ourselves to do it. Hope everyone has a great day, we all deserve this and if the authors ever read this, I wish you too a good day too. Thank you for reading, even it's just a random vent on a KZbin comment.

This feels like a video that was meant to be a 20-second gag, but turned into a genuine therapy session for the writers and they decided to keep it in because it was both funny and oddly genuine.

Do we gonna get a fourth part, where Robert tries to help. I think it's going to start like: *Some dude doing chaos* Robert: - hey - heya. Do you also here for Big Mask? - no, he took vacation. I've took his role for that time. - oh. So. Yes.

I think the most powerful thing about Bigmask that I have recognized is how little he was going to defend himself from The Great Monster when he went in for the faux finishing blow. Then when he was getting his face melted, which we can assume was incredibly painful, he just stared Facemelter in the eyes and said one last fatal line. Now hes going to go out for some self care. Maybe it was obvious, but I feel like Bigmask is showing suicidal tendencies due to his clear lack of self preservation. I hope to see more of this. I want to see Robert's way to protect. I want to see a healthier and happier Big mask.

Genuinely the sweetest series I've seen in a while. It's important to remember that everyone is human, and there are basic respects we all deserve. No one just becomes a "monster"; people are a product of their experiences and environments. But inside, we're all the same

It's quite sad that Bigmask is so willing to just let his face get melted. Since his mask got affected, the heat would've likely made it to his skin just a little later, had Facemelter not stopped. It's clear he lacks any sort of self-preservation since he still sees himself as an irredeemable monster for what he did, even though it wasn't his fault.

Big Mask is the best superhero. For a moment there I thought Facemelter was going to be the one villain he would have to fight and kill, an unrepentant psychopath pretending to be a hero to kill with impunity, they seemed pretty irredeemable... but no, Big Mask kept calm, kept talking, and in the end he talked him down.

It is very cool how Big Mask keeps facing problems that are progressively harder than the ones before. A new character always has a perfect protection against the weapon that has been used on the previous one, but Big Masks still manages to pull everything off and win. I guess it takes a huge amount of time to make these episodes and I hope you guys keep going to make them! Great job!

Classic secondary Rider situation. Facemelter and Bigmask are going to overcome their differences and come to an understanding to take down the stronger and bigger bads. Bigmask is genuinely amazing. I wish there were more superhero stories like this. Stories that end with the hero showing the villain that they don't have to be the bad guy instead of ending with the villain receiving their comeuppance. Huh. I just realized that there is a good example of that kind of story in mainstream media. The LEGO movie is an excellent example of this. Sure, it has a sort of big climatic finale, but it doesn't end with Emmet destroying the Kraggle or defeating Lord Business. It ends with him convincing Lord Business that he doesn't have to be the bad guy which is exactly what I love so much about Bigmask.
