I hope you enjoyed another backroads adventure and it sure didn't disappoint. It is not always easy to find new and exciting places out there. There is so much more but finding them can be difficult at times especially the more that I check off my list. Getting out further and further from home is what I find myself doing and this trip was no exception. This hobby is not for people that don't like driving the roads for hours and hours. On this day I travelled around 900 kilometers just to get footage of these few places but you know what, it is worth every minute. Thanks everyone for sticking around and watching my adventures. Take care and I will see you on the next!

This type of activity is also not for those who don't like exploring gravel grid roads in the Special Areas or the Red Coat Trail. Believe me, you better have a stone reliable vehicle, you don't want to have a break down literally in the middle of nowhere.

My thoughts exactly. I hope it stays this way for a while but it is showing some deterioration now. Have a good one!

Oh wow I was startled to see the classroom just as it was years ago. Books and school papers, old baseball uniforms and the flag, amazing! What a cool look at a piece of history.

Yes, it was so cool to see it inside like that. I hope it stays that way for many years but I do see it deteriorating in areas.

It is but it also looked to be deteriorating quite a bit now. Not sure it is being cared for as much nowadays. Was very nice to visit.

Yes it is but the signs of disrepair are a bit sad to see.

Lovely to see this history preserved. Unfortunately in the UK, a building like that would be covered in Graffiti, then vandalized and probably burnt down, for good measure. Sad, but true.

It is fun getting out on the roads and seeing what can be found. Even without finding much I get enjoyment out of the open road. It is relaxing for me. Unfortunately even here there are very few places that don't get vandalized. I have seen so many on my travels. It is very sad that people need to be so destructive.

Thanks for this. It was lovely to watch. You have preserved this old school beyond the 1987 restoration. It won’t last much longer. Good to see it has been respected by visitors. A couple of one room schools around where I live have been preserved but many are just commemorated by a wrought iron sign. ❤
@ExploringwithWade Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope it can be kept up but it looks like it is no longer being looked after like it once was unfortunately. Yes I pass so many of those iron signs marking the locations of where a school once was. The majority are already gone.

That school is in amazing condition. It must have been abandoned before 1965 because the Red Ensign is displayed on the wall. Thank you for sharing.👍

It was great to see. The school years were 1913 to 1933 but used for other things up till the 60s with the restoration in mid 80s. Loved this little school.

What a treasure! That building is in relatively good condition - yet it was restored in 1987, so we can see how time and the elements take their toll over the years. I love how the inside of the building still "lives" with the photos and books and so on. Thanks for sharing this!

That is absolutely incredible!! Great to see for sure!! Hard to imagine being a teacher in those days...the multiple grades, the conditions and responsibilities, and the less than stellar pay. Amazing stuff!! Bruce and Otis

Cute! Someone left a message on the blackboard for visitors. Nice to see the community taking care of the place, preserving it as a museum of sorts. Perhaps done by people who have personal connections to the place.

Yes it was very nice to see this little time capsule but I fear it might start to deteriorate as it seems people might not be looking after it much anymore. I hope I am wrong.

Hi Wade. interesting to see writing in cursive. I don't think many people still study or write in cursive anymore with keyboards the way they are today. I would think that maybe putting all those books and papers behind glass so that they don't fade away with the elements. A very cool time capsule. My "Papa" pastors a Mennonite church in a field in Wetaskiwin. Malmo Mission Covenant Church.

Cool trip to do. Enjoyed seeing the artifacts in the school. Have you ever done the driving tour of the Ukrainian Churches of East Central Alberta? You can download a guide off the web. Would be nice to see the churches fillmed as a preservation record.

It seems to me sadly the community does not have has much an appreciation as they once had... it is clear that building and the others you show have fallen again into deep disrepair... thats what is truly sad.. the generations that had a tangible connect to those buildings have passed the kids who were schooled there and now even their children have all passed on... it appears no one is maintaining the school house anymore which is really a shame! It seems a lot of effort was put in back in 1987 to keep that place going!
@ExploringwithWade Жыл бұрын
Most either passed or many moved away from the rural areas and lack of funds. It is starting to show deterioration now. It looked amazing in 1987 after the restoration. So much history like this gets lost eventually and it is pretty sad a place like this being forgotten.
