For me, Leandros’ failure was to ignore the chain of command. A whole company was present, which means the chaplain of the 2nd company was there - so Leandros was right to raise the question but it should have been raised to the chaplain. NOT the inquisition

Aside from enforcing the 1000 brother limit per chapter which at the time was a good idea post heresy, Space Book was always meant to be a preferred actions guidebook rather than stringent "law". Robute even amitted back in the day that anyone familiar enough with the books tactics could always counter the Marines so it could potentially be fatally flawed. If Robute ever met Leandros I bet it would be an interesting conversation. Wonder if Leandros would accept it or if Robute would have to beat it into him haha

A major point that I like that we have with Titus is that he is far stronger than he was in the first game. Not just because he is now a primaries marine, but because he is centuries older with new experienced and skills gained after spending so much time in the Deathwatch.

It is entirely possible that the librarians and chaplains are not present, are off world, are unavailable, or even KIA. They never say. It is simply implied that Leandros went straight to an Inquisitor with his concerns, who, of course, went overboard with his "due diligence," as most Inquisitors often do. So, yes, I believe Leandros SHOULD have kept his concerns within the chapter &/or company, and probably COULD have. Basically, when he got the Inquisitor involved, it was because he panicked, jumped the gun, skipped the chain of command, and/or even ignored the instructions of the Codex. His concerns were warranted, but his actions in the end went too far.

Lameandros being a contrarian wasn't what I hated about him, it was how he acted like a hormonal teenager looking for Daddy's approval and hating him for not listening to him at the same time. For someone in a company command squad such an attitude should have ironed out already, but Leandros seemed like a slow learner. Plus narqing to the Inquisition was a bitch move because the Codex says you should report suspicions of corruption to a Chaplain or Librarian first, so that makes his strict adherence to the rules really hypocritical, not a good look.

What I feel was Leandro's failing, was contacting inquisition directly with his concerns rather than chapter librarian and letting them to judge the situation. His concern was certainly legit, I feel method he went about it perhaps not.

The entire point of the chain of contact regarding possible treachery and heresy is to ensure that they only go to the inquisition with valid, and entirely true, threats. Leandros' accusation led to a radical, possibly heretical, inquisitor being swayed by a simple rank and file Ultramarine (compared to a Captain, Chaplain or Librarian). The simple fact the inquisition didn't try to label the entire chapter excommunicae traitoris is a miracle

I fondly remember when games like BG1 had nice chunky lore booklets to really give you the feel of the world before you played..... The first half of this vid really gives me the feel of that sort of game-prep lore.... it works perfectly to hype you up to play Titus again. I know this vid was sponsored by Focus, but kinda wish they would ask Leutin to provide a combined 40k/Titus primer and add it to the download of the game.... if you know 40k then you'd watch because you probably love his vids.... if you were new to the 40k Universe, it would be the perfect into to that world. Titus' resistance to the Warp could be a gift from Big E. He always had a penchant for nudging things in a certain direction without making his participation known. That’s the thing I love most about Titus. He really, truly is everything an ultramarine should be. Which is, certainly, being exactly what the emperor intended a space marine to be in the first place. Like the quote at the start said “wear the mantle of hero, inspire where you can. But remember always; we are the angles of death. Not of mercy or salvation” As good as he is at killing, he really does inspire and wear the mantle of hero. Especially compared to he must not be named. He will always suck for what he did to Titus. But…it hopefully will lead to being what they both needed to change and become better servants of the imperium and even the chapter. As Titus even said, he has learned much about how he also failed to be a better leader. Let’s just hope he that must not be named also has learned much in his many decades since he fucked over big poppa T.

Most people assumed it was oversight by the devs, but the second game reinforces the idea that Leandros def fucked up lmao Given he was "promoted" to Chaplain and the Chapter himself states he was livid at the situation tells me that the Devs know their lore and Leandros is a hypocrite who is thankfully paying the price for it. As someone who was in the military, if there is an issue with your command, you dont go OUTSIDE the chain to ask for help. You go to the next layer of command to request inspection. Leandros going outside of the chapter, never mind just going to another captain, he went to the inquistion! He should have reached out first to a chaplain, or sent the request to a leader above Titus. IF THEY ignored it, THEN going to the inquistion after hearing the answers from within his chapter, MAY and i cant stress enough, MAY be warranted.... What he did, in OUR WORLD, would have ended his carreer. He would never advance in rank, and would have been excluded and ignored by his squad mates because he cannot be trusted to carry out orders. His constant questioning of his superior IN BATTLE, would have risked the lives of his team. NO ONE wants that. If hes busy questioning, hes not busy watching the ACTIVE WAR around him. In 40k, that war is SO MUCH worse than anything we have in our world, and he would likely have been killed the second time he went off like he did by HIS OWN SQUAD. This has been shown on several occasions in the books. SM' s dont play.

I saw an interview with a former Relic employee how Space Marine should have been continuing after the first title. Originaly the plan was for Titus to become a chapter master and the second game should have been about building your own new chapter. But this idea was scrapped it seems now.

I still think Leandross is a big bag of suck. Perils ofthe warp? Totally valid concern. Tattling to the INQUISITION the first chance he gets? That still seems a bit excessive, especially when the Ultramarines have such a powerful psyker as mentioned in the video that could clear up the situation and keep it in-house. Just my personal opinion. But then again, i usually lean much more towards the Ciaphas Cain school of thought.

Oh nah you're totally right. What's supposed to happen is Leandros reports Titus to the Company Chaplain or Librarian and they do their investigation. The Chaplain's whole entire purpose it to make sure the Company Astartes are all loyal and not tainted by any warp nonsense. The last thing any Space Marine chapter wants is the inquisition being all up in their business. What Leandros did was extremely reckless and dangerous, he could have gotten that whole entire company of space marines killed and the ultramarines as a whole investigated by the inqusition.

Leoandros is the one corrupted by Tzeentch. He doesn't even follow the codex himself. He should have reported Titus to his chapter and not to the inquisition. Leandros' plan was basically: just let the demon ascend and do nothing.

Titus has always been among my favorite Space Marines. Sure there are others, but Titus' qualities and traits are very heroic, a worthy son of Roboute Guilliman. And I got to say Leandros has been wrong. I don't know what his fate is, but I like to see him be chastised by either Marneus Calgar or Roboute himself, if he's able to have lived. Or perhaps something has happened to him that made him realize that what Titus did was right but it was too late for him as he perhaps lost his life to some battle.

IIRC part of the original plans for the Space Marine series before the original developer closed up was for Titus to become the leader of a new Chapter. So now, that would mean he becomes Chapter Master of a new Ultima-Founding Chapter.

Leandros was 100% correct to report the clear and present risk that Titus's nature and actions represent to the Ultramarines. What he did wrong was contacting the Inquisition, not the Chaplain and Chapter Master in order to manage the matter internally.

Leandros was wrong in contacting an inquisitor as opposed of a Chapter Chaplain. He not only went outside the chain of command but outside the Chapter. That to me makes him more of a traitor than Titus could have been.
