I was lucky to be invited by a friend to experience Morio's Sushi Bistro. I'll show you all the courses we got for the omakase. It was a wonderful experience!

Love this video. I went to Morios at the old location. It was really good. I don't think we had to wait 6 months, but we did have to wait. Makes me want to go back and try what you had. It all looked so good!

Aloha Misty, Aiden and friends: Looks like you all had a Japanese-inspired nine-course banquet from this vlog! Never have I imagined a six-month wait for a reservation at a restaurant in Honolulu. Seeing all the “yummy” food, and seeing Aiden so happy, I can understand why! I can imagine a nice glass of of plum-wine with the gourmet treats presented. Things have changed in the culinary scene in McCully. I still remember to good food at the sushi place next to the old Pay ‘n Save on King Street. Looking forward to the next vlog on “yummy” food! that place is so good! i've been fortunate enough to eat there twice and get reservations easily both times! morio is super funny and entertaining! definitely a good idea to go to the later seating. he will drink with the customers!

Oh wow you're so lucky! We were a big party and seated in the back but the waiter joined in at the last dish and had a shot. It was a great time! Next time if I am lucky I'll sit by Morio. 🤙

I have been dinning at Morio’s almost every month for the last 8 years or so, we do Omasake all the time, it is like eating at home when we are there, so much fun and we have a great time during every visit 🤙🏻

Great to see that Morio san is still going strong. I visited his original restaurant that was the Ruffage Natural Foods during the day. Their washroom was next door inside a hotel. Morio san has a wicked sense of humour. The waiting period then was three months! Tanks Misty.

Oh omakases can range from $120 and above. I remember in 2012 we went to Morimoto's (the Iron Chef) and then it was $120. This was still a deal in these times. $149 for the omakase, all of my son's 3 dishes (we took some left overs home) and his soft drink. It is said to phone them from 5-6pm before they open as they are too busy to answer once service starts at 6pm. Cheers!

Wow….that was a lot if food!! Some different looking stuff too. Looked so ono!!! The only fail seemed to be he green tea dessert thingy….LOL!!! I just love when I can eat a whole deep fried shrimp, head to tail. (Licking my lips). Second seating would be my preference also. But that’s cutting it close to my bedtime these days 😂😂. Yes looks small but towards the end I started to get really stuffed. So worth it! Yes it was way past Aiden and I'm bedtime. I go to bed at 9. This kept going on until 11pm!

Yeah me too. I thought I'd never get to go, because I'm kind of impatient and I go to bed early for work. But I was so fortunate to get invited, so my old ass took a nap to get ready 🤣 I think your dad would appreciate it! Morio was on the other side since we had a party of 10 and was in the back room. But if you sit in the main area (tiny) you get to see him work. He is an older Japanese gentleman. You don't have to get omakase and just order nigiri off the menu.

Aloha Misty! Morio’s is one of our favorites. We order off the menu because it’s more affordable Did you get to talk to Morio? He is a blast! Next time you go, sit upstairs by the sushi bar and look at all the stuff he has on the shelf. We usually make a reservation before we leave for next time, saves us the trouble of trying to call. Your meal looked really good, he has some new stuff since the last time we went. I think our next reservation is in March, can’t wait.

Aloha Laurie! No we had a party of 10 so we sat in the back and he was busy with the folks up front. But our waiter was super funny. Yes, next time if I'm fortunate to go, we can sit at the bar. Aloha Misty!! Wow even an even crazier wait time than Tonkatsu Tamafuji. It’s pretty cool that it’s a BYOB. The Omakase option looked delicious and had a really good variety of dishes. It’s a great way to try new things like the ponzu jelly, the aji, and Shoyu foam to name a few. Aiden’s dishes looked great too. He can beat Michelle with his spice tolerance!! 😂 Too bad about the green tea dessert but at least 2/3 of the desserts were good!! Going to see if we can get a reservation for this spot when we come back!! Mahalo for sharing another great spot!!

Aloha Michelle and Jose! Yes quite a long wait but maybe because we were a big party? I saw some empty spots at the bar seating. But the other tables were taken. Maybe you and Jose can try it earlier since a table for 2 is smaller. Aiden is a hot sauce connoisseur and he requires hot sauce at every meal. His favorite so far is Tapatio. LOL

Yes crazy. Maybe 3 months if your party is small. Forgot the shoyu and wasabi in the beginning because we were busy talking but later on I did dip it in. 🤣

We once made reservations 3 months in advance, way back in the early days. Had an emergency and had to cancel 1 week before the date. I have yet to go.

I went there a few years back, and was not impressed. Although the sushi was fresh the portions were small and nothing spectacular. Morio while friendly appeared to be drunk and advocating a local bar down the street . Another glitch was that the waitress forgot to prepare the chawanmushy for us yet the other diners had it served to them. When asked her reply was that it had to be cooked before we sat down, which was complete BS. At any rate, save your money, and go to Sasabune, Yanagi or Sushi Mayurama. You’ll be glad you did.

I liked it. Our waiter was great so no issues there. Didn't really see Morio as he was up front and we had a private room in the back since we were a big party. I enjoy Sushi Sasabune. Never went to Yanagi's but that's my friend's auntys place. I enjoyed Akasaka as well.

It is, but I believe it's all about the experience and unique dishes offered. There's tons of sushi bars and affordable fresh sushi here in Hawaii with no wait.

I mispronounced it because I lost my voice and it's very hard to speak in a loud environment. I love Japanese food, but I'm not Japanese, so I don't know what some of the fish names are if they aren't the usuals. Thanks for the clarification of what aji is.

They don't. Just showing a great restaurant that people may not know about. They never asked me to come and film. None of the restaurants I pick to show invite me, nor would I go if they did as that would be biased.
