@spang9782 I know that's why...the pasta is way over the limit for carbs for me. On our cruise I gained 8lbs from all that bread and pasta and potatoes. Even after hiking 10 miles a day in Canada it's hard to get rid of. I usually eat no carbs at all. Only for the videos. I gain weight too fast and my blood work goes to hell.

Thank you for sharing your cruise experience with your son. Glad you had a great time but sorry it ended so poorly. Years ago, we had a consultant come in at one of our quarterly meetings to talk about customer experience. He mentioned Disney and their "imagineering" and how they went from a very family-friendly, excellent customer experience to management being clueless as to how attendance fell off at their parks. Lo and behold it was how they had kept on raising prices on everything but falling off on customer service. They had to retrain everyone to remember that it's everyone's responsibility to keep the customer delighted. Example: That means if there's a kid crying, you find out why in a caring way and comfort the kid, especially if the child is lost. Fast forward to today's post-Covid world and just about everyone involved as corporate service providers seems to have forgotten that. The cruise experience doesn't end when you get off the ship. Continue the customer delight mentality on-boarding through off-boarding, front-end through back-end. Sorry my own little rant but I see this all the time. It's like "Oh he's just an old Asian guy, he won't complain." Oh yeah? One word: YELP!
@FoodFiend
@FoodFiend 9 сағат бұрын
Interesting about the comparison. I don't even care about stellar service. Just do your job is all I care about. I'm used to fast and rude service on the east coast but they get it done. The thing that annoyed me was the standing around and either not wanting to be there or not knowing what to do and the blame game. But oh well it all worked out in the end...without much of their help.

Baggage situations across the country is a very bad issue. Where strangers just take people's bag and steal them. Why aren't there better security checking people as they leave the baggage area?! And in the day & age of handheld scanners, why can't their be better tracking and accountability?! The scans will go immediately into a database. Upon he person/customers return home, all of that data could be erased, so no large accumil=ation of information...just for tracking purposes. Security people check our purchases as we leave COSTCO and Best Buy, why not all the baggage as it moves around, especially if it was still be controlled and accounted for by the cruise line?! Airports really need to do a way better job of this also, some are so irresponsible about baggage.

Yes only lost my luggage once with United, but that is when they were very terrible when merging with Continental. Now it's not so bad. My luggage that I only used twice was damaged by WestJet when going to Canada. I don't think it can be repaired. At the end of the day, we got the suitcase back. But there should be better steps because people are idiots and just take any bag that looks like theirs without looking. We did have a florescent bright yellow lock and ribbon on it but that didn't help.

Thank you for taking us along on your Disney cruise! I love how you plan trips out so thoroughly and always have entertaining excursions and sea day activities for Aiden. What fun you both had on the ship❣️ We were on the Disney Wonder on an Alaska cruise and it was such a fun time - Disney is so family oriented with activities galore onboard! Our grandsons loved the cruise and as it was their first cruise they were so excited to select their favorite excursions. We had been to Alaska several times before on other cruise lines but Disney is just so special. We also had the animation activity at Animators’ Palette but no fireworks due to environmental concerns in Alaska. We had Frozen night instead of Pirates’ night, still a fun night. I’m so sorry you had problems after disembarking. Unfortunately, we have experienced the occasional non-stellar crew member on other cruise lines, but your experience takes the cake! Fortunately cabin stewards and dining room staff have always been super. Take good care, I’m very happy that you had so much fun in Canada for some alone time! Happy future trip planning 🤩

Mahalo Janice! What a great Alaska cruise that you described on the Wonder. We went to Baja Mexico on the Wonder when Aiden was 5 and filmed that. A Frozen Night sounds so cool and matches the weather of Alaska. How creative! The thing that bothered me is everyone on the ship providing great service was from a 3rd world country (as all cruises are like) and working so hard for little pay. And the people that were rude and unhelpful on land were American employees that get paid much more than the people on the ship. Sad.

My sister said the Jamaica you got to see is unfortunately gone. Terrible tragedy. Shows again how nothing is promised to anyone. Sorry for the bummer attitude. Now about this cruise....true how first impressions and last impressions stick with you. I understand about rethinking on whether you take another Disney cruise. But except for the bad experience with the luggage (lucky you got it back), it sounds like it was a great experience. And Aiden gets unlimited ice cream! A kid after my own heart. Never been on a Disney cruise, but seemed to be a good experience overall. Were those excursions ala carte/expensive or were they included as part of the cruise? Just as a comparison. Went to Italy, in Rome for 3 days. Luggage was not there when we arrived at the hotel. Good thing we packed a set of clothes in our carry-on. Our luggage showed up just as we were about to get on our tour bus to the next city. Luggage was at the airport, but was never delivered for 3 days! You were a lot luckier than me and my sister. 😂

Aloha Carol! The excursions on all cruises are a separate charge. You can go with an outside excursion but if you are late for any reason, such as a flat tire, etc. the ship will not wait for you. If you book through the cruise line the ship has to wait for you. It's more expensive but gives piece of mind. There are many excursions to pick from for each port. You don't have to do them. You can stay on the ship and relax or get off and walk around the town. Good thing you packed a set of clothes! This one was kind of a weird situation. He was going to visit his dad in Seattle and it is still cold there. So all his jeans and jackets were in there as well as shoes. But in the end it worked out. Still feel I wouldn't cruise with them again, especially being a member with them and getting no response from my email clearly states that they do not care. You can get the same or more for cheaper on Royal Caribbean or Norwegian. Plus Aiden is getting older and didn't want to have anything to do with the characters or shows. That's why I didn't show any of those. He didn't want to go to the shows they had.
