The "hydraulic ram" towards the end was a stirrup type tyre pump! The two oval hoops at the connection end folded out so you could step on them and hold the pump steady.

12:10 - Looks like a wall brace end cap. They run a threaded bar through a building and put large metal plates on each end secured by a nut to hold brick walls together when they start sagging. (Or sometimes right from the start as decoration.) They could be simple X shapes, fancier S scrolls, plain circles, stars, or any manner of ornamental shapes.
