"Dry lightning" is just a thunderstorm that produces little to no rain, BUT all the lightning and wind that a thunderstorm can bring

In 2017, an EF-3 fire tornado was captured on film, in the CAR WILDFIRE, near Redding, California.

@@williamedmonds-gx7sq Chico. The 2018 Paradiswild fire choked our skies, & scared the living hell out of all of us!! It's ironic that I moved from tornado alley to escape tornadoes/ devastating killer natural disasters. VERY Nieve in 1988.

In 1981 I was a forest fire fighter in northern Minnesota not far from the Canadian border. I saw a fire tornado and as terrifying as it is to see on video, it's even worse in person! The heat that it gives off is like a blast furnace.

Yep. those Australians have to have one up on everybody. Killer spiders, killer jellyfish and now fire tornados. I'm starting to think you're compensating for something.

Not really on the Fire tornado, they have the possibility of showing up whenever there is a big wildfire, or just big fires in general.

It makes sense. Hot, dry air under colder, more humid air. Swirling fire and air gets the thing in motion.

In Northern California 2018 was a terrible year for fires 🔥 In July the Carr fire near Redding had the fire tornado. Then there was the Mendocino Complex fire which burned over 400k acres the Camp Fire in Paradise California (there is documentary called Fire in Paradise) my relatives lost 5 homes in that fire. From 2015 to 2022 Northern California had terrible fires. There was another fire near Fresno was thought to have had a fire tornado. Fires are able to create their own weather. I lived in an area where we would get extreme fires nearly every year.

This was a most interesting and revealing story that I had not heard before. I’ll be glad if we experience no additional such events ever!

Yeah, they're real. The Carr Fire had one, there have been others. You get the thermal updrafts and they pull up fire from below, it spins, and wham. The only good consolation for me is that, as far as I know, there are no fire hurricanes because the wet ones are bad enough (as I sit here watching Beryl heading for Texas, and they think it's going to curve along the Texas coast now, maybe.)

A natural disaster that’s always fascinated me is volcanoes. The slow moving lava in Hawaii or Iceland, versus the huge blast of Mount St. Helens in northwestern United States or Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines.

The recent fires in Ruidoso, NM are usually started by lightning strikes but this one is believed to be intentionally set! FBI have an award out for information leading to arrest. The damage is devastating!

We get some nasty bushfires 1980's ash wends black satu 2009 and 2019/2020 fires. Our fires are diffrent due to the trees and brush we have. Iv seen trees explode during fies. There was a possable tornado during 2009 black sat fires but it was hard to tell. 173 died :S.

Anyway, regardless, the heat rising from the fires messes with the atmosphere, which if cool enough creates rotation similar to any cold front/warm front merger.

In ww1 the massive artillery bombardments served 2 purposes later in the war 1 shell shock the shit out of anyone in the area 2 cause very large storms that would at time's flood entire trench line's causing troops to be pulled of from trenchfoot and other thing's but same general concept heat and cold or damp or whatever all goes into storms

LOL at 'never before been documented in science'. A firenado killed thousands in Japan in the 40's(my time frame might be off). EDIT: It was the 1920's kzbin.info/www/bejne/apOWlKSibbamf7s
