If that saw had a rack and pinion fence system, I'd be all over it. I just got rid of my Bosch and switched to a DeWalt for the rack and pinion fence. Never going to buy a saw without one now. Micro adjustments are just too easy. I do wish Festool had a power cord option as well as the battery. Other than those two things, amazing saw.

The fence was the first thing I checked out, with a flip of the lever it locks in perfectly square to the blade. I have the dewalt with that fence however the saw is so much larger and bulky in my van I should just sell it because I don't think I will ever use it again.

The rack and pinion fence of DeWalt is great. But a sliding table is so much more better than any fence.

How will the LCD display hold up in freezing weather? My experience has been that It destroys them. I'd be disappointed if I couldn't leave my saw in the van in the winter

It's been in my van and I have used it as cold as 20 degrees and doing great. Won't have a full winter with it yet but it seems to have a high end LCD display like a phone, nice and bright.

Would be nice if you could use a power cord or battery

I have one question about the saw, the tops on table saws tend to wear with the wood you are ripping . On my Dewalt, it looks like crap, but it is so inexpensive it is not an issue. How do you think the Festool is going to hold up? And nice overview, thank you.

Dewalt Flexvolt saw for me. Love it. And yes my table surface looks terrible too. The huge rip capacity (610mm I think) of the Dewalt is a big plus

I think the top will hold up well, it's the same gray coating they use on all the tools, I have never see it wear even with some of my tools having many years of use. Example - My Kapex miter saw is 14 years old and the gray top bed still looks really nice. I have slid about every material across it and it has seen heavy use.

The Mafell Erika has been around for years and is waaay better. 🤷

What do you like better about it?

Mafell and Festool are actually close competitors in Germany. They have even shared tool designs in a couple instances such as the Festool OF 2200 being based on the Mafell LO 65Ec and I believe the Mafell KF 1000 being based on the Festool MFK700. I suspect that this is one of those cases as the Erika has been around for a long time and the Festool CSC50 looks almost identical to it. The Mafell tools tend to be heavier duty with less plastic parts and just feel a lot more solid and precise in your hands. They also have a whole line of timber framing tools but thats a side point. @@fultonfinewoodworks

The festool crosscut saw, which I don't see listed on the festoolusa website anymore, was based on the much older Mafell KSS 80Ec

I am familiar with Mafell just not with that saw, I looked it up and there are some fairly big differences that I still prefer the Festool. 1- Price, the Mafell is two times the cost 2- Compact - This saw fits in a Systainer format and stores compact in my van and shop 3 - Power - Would not work in North America as it is 230 v the Festool is battery powered and fits the current battery platform I am already using with my other tools. 4- Weight 80 pounds for Mafell and 40 pounds for Festool - The Mafell saw does have about 1 inch more of cutting height, a larger blade, and 2 more inches of rip but the Festool specs meet my requirements with all the things I just mentioned at half the price.
