@TylerGrowOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Blakus, thanks for the amazing video. I'm just about to upgrade my stuff and purchase this library. To be honest, I always found it difficult to sort of change up the dynamic of the strings when composing. Like, you sit down and go.. "Okay strings here should go staccato.. then what should they do here? Should they go staccato somewhere else then legato? And you're forced to sort of do a separate track thats staccato and legato and figure it out. Where as I believe with this library you can just do staccato and legato combined and it'll sound natural. Looking forward to testing those waters for sure! Also working on a OST for a pirate game, there's that to.

Love all the little flourishes. Actually didn't think the woodwinds sounded that bad on their own, but I was listening on regular headphones, not monitors so perhaps I missed something. You know, I'd be very curious to hear what you'd come up with if you limited yourself to just string, perc and woodwinds! Woodwinds are often underused imo and I think you'd do a pretty good job writing for them!

With so many instruments... How it doesn´t sound like a big mess? :D is it more because of dynamics and instrument selection, or EQ and paning? :O I´m amazed by the process, thank you for sharing!
@Blakus6 жыл бұрын
That's actually a good question. I think it's a combination of two things. The careful balance (volume) of the instruments, and the actual orchestration (the notes played). It honestly feels like a big mess sometimes, but it's fun when it all works out in the end :D

additional (you can tell i'm a little overstimulated haha) i was wondering about the benefits of separating articulations over tracks rather than using key switches to keep everything together
@Blakus6 жыл бұрын
Wow, late reply here, sorry! I love to separate my articulations so that I can layer them easily. This isn't as accessible when hidden behind keyswitches. How did I begin? By just fiddling around, a LOT! Haha. That, and looking at manuscript scores of composers that I love, and trying to recreate their music.

I'm totally new to music ; I really wanna buy the adventure strings(the complete orchestral bundle) but it's really expensive. This is exactly the type of melody and stuff I'd love to learn to make. I suffer from ocd thus I have tendencies to give up and look up to buy more libraries because I feel that the library I am using just doesn't sound good enough or is missing something. I look at the different libraries and your piece was in there but then I hear the choirs, bells ,etc making me doubts about what the bundle really contains. This might be a stupid question but I really need to know if this whole music piece uses only adventure strings or if you used multiple libraries other than adventure strings. By knowing that that goal could be reachable, it would motivate me enough to make me keep trying. Also if you do use other libraries for this piece, I'd love to know which. When I hear music like this, it is what makes me wanna do this.

Blakus, you may have had a question like this before but for first timers in your opinion what would be the best all rounder library to buy . I.E not enough money to buy huge libraries but one that someone could start with ? I am setup on a student account with sounds online which gives me access to great libraries Hollywood brass etc, however looking to buy some ?
@Blakus6 жыл бұрын
The hollywood series is actually really great. Hollywood Strings and Brass should be more than enough for orchestral needs for a long while in my opinion. I don't have the woodwinds so I can't comment on those, it really depends which sounds you feel you need more of!
@daniebl48946 жыл бұрын
Awesome, and what about the spitfire series ? I'm a big fan of these to be fair as it's more or less straight out the box but still on the fence with these libraries. Thanks for the opinion

Man, that autosave is killing me also. Worst thing by far about Cubase.
@Blakus7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I should just turn it off, but it has "saved" me a couple of times haha.
@naedolor7 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why aren't they fixing it... I'm deep into a project, very concentrated, in the flow and suddenly I have to stop for 15 seconds for the damn thing to save. I've set it up at 10 minutes interval. It also saved me on different occasions. Quick question. If you set up all the VSTs externally using Vienna Ensemble Pro, will it still take as long for saving? My understanding is that Kontakt is at fault here.
@Blakus7 жыл бұрын
The problem is the pure amount of kontakt instances that we have in Cubase. I personally am not too bothered by it, and it's not worth routing everything through VE PRO for me. But yes, VE PRO would introduce much faster save times, but it introduces another whole set of factors that I'd rather not have to put up with for now. I've been down the VE PRO route before, and it does a great job, but for me, I'm better without it. I have over 250 instances of Kontakt in this template. I think Cubase does pretty damn well, considering. hahah!
@naedolor7 жыл бұрын
Can you please elaborate a bit on VE Pro? Sorry for stressing you, but I'd really like to know.
@Blakus7 жыл бұрын
VE PRO = Vienna Ensemble Pro. Since you brought it up, I assumed you would know about it :) It's just a way of keeping everything loaded outside of your DAW.
