@@GameOver-fn2og the 49 version of the T-54 is the worst one. The first in line, 47 model, has the thickest armor and fastest turret. The 49 and 51 models both have the thinner frontal hull and slower turret. The 49 gets APDS and the 51 gets both APDS/HEAT-FS. The APDS is terrible. The APCBC and HEAT-FS rounds are your go to rounds. This is why most people play the 47 and 51 models and not the 49. You take the 51 out early game when you might need the HEAT-FS and the 47 late game when you can bully everything with your armor. Hence the worse stats and the drop. This algorithm balancing is complete nonsense. It is absurd that right now the Germans have a Tiger and Panther at 5.3 while Sherman 76's and the T34-85 are at 5.7.

They quite simply have the best tanks in the game and at a lower BR than they should be, it's almost always an uphill battle trying to win in any other nation at that level. Germany does not suffer.

Whats amazing about this tank is how simple and rugged it is, my cousin was a war journalist for Aljazeera he encountered one of these things originally in service with the FSA but was captured by the Syrian army back in 2015. But what was peculiar about this particular T-54 is the engine sound that it made, it sounded totally different than the ones the Syrian army owned. So he asked a soldier who was standing on the engine deck about it, and turns out the FSA had jury rigged the camshaft out of 6 four cylinder truck engines welded together. If the world turns into Mad Max in the future im pretty damn sure the tanks that'll be around still are Soviet made.

The fact that the T-54 1949 went down and the T-54 1947 didn't, just proves Gaijin is clueless about what Br's are. This one has an extra shell over the one before it, which takes its pen from 230mm to 300mm. Its better, and yet it is lower Br than same vehicle but worse. Really makes you wonder what is going through Gaijins brain.

I completely agree. They keep making the sounds worse and worse. I used to be able to hear tanks so well about a year ago, the volume levels and sounds were perfect. Now you can’t even hear people the are right behind you half the time. Or the sound will get bugged and a tank will give off aircraft noise so I will be looking into the sky, meanwhile the tank continues to get into position and destroy me while my head is frantically scanning the sky. My game play has really suffered as a result seeing as I heavily rely on sound cues .

The T-54 1947 has 120mm of front armor instead of 100mm and it's enough to stop the standard 303mm pen APDS on 105mm guns on the leopard/m60/cent/of-40. Only from range and at least slightly angled tho but it's fun bouncing it

The results of that were what caused the immediate panic-adoption of the 105mm L7 by virtually everybody west of the Iron Curtain.

For anyone complaining about "Oh the 88 should go right through those 200mm with its 250mm of pen!" should try playing the IS-2 against centurions. 244mm of pen against 180mm turret plate, 7/10 times it wont pen, at least when you're the one shooting. (Weirdly enough, when you're on the recieving end, it always seems to go right through, because jee golly, its almost as if your confirmation bias makes you only remember the shots that killed you! Try playing both nations before claiming bullshit! :) )

The T-54 used to be spammed so much that I just gave up playing my Tiger II P, once they were hulled down I couldn't do anything. The only way T-54's died reliably for me was if they exposed their side hull which was paper for me, otherwise it was like they were pure stallinium.

It's Gaijoob and their algorithm. When they were all 7.7 the 49 offered nothing over the 51 model, and the 47 model has the great frontal armor. So people would usually roll a combination of the 47 and 51 models. As a result the stats would have been shite on the 49. Hence, it goes down BR.
