This really shows how serious the Singapore government wants to help rehabilitate the inmates and gear them with the best chance for them to survive when they reintegrate into society. At the same time, there's a balance of strict discipline that the inmates don't get too comfortable in prison. Compare this with places like UK and US that treat inmates like animals or the Nordic countries where the inmates are treated like kings
@CTFD12 жыл бұрын
Many prisons are moving towards rehabilitation and offer diverse programming such as substance abuse treatment, anger management programs, parenting and life skill coursework and much more. A few of these types of programs are Thinking For A Change, Cage Your Rage, AA and NA. The prison system I worked at even taught commercial driver’s license classes, various job training for trades such as plumbing or electrical or HVAC and there were various inmate jobs available and all inmates were encouraged to take advantage of programs and work opportunities offered

Was in Changi prison for 16 months. Released on year 2021. This whole documentary isn’t sharing everything. They can as covered a lot of things. Spend about 3 months in Tanah Merah Prison as I was under the age of 21 and when my birthday reaches was transferred to the adult facility in Changi prison A1. Based on experience, not all prisoners have the same treatment, in fact our time there was better. For example, the floors are cleaner, fully Matt plastic. Food taste wise, more different including portion, we get to have breads in the afternoon between lunch and dinner everyday. There’s no stripping of clothings before yards except after. Some cell doors are open a little extra time during medication even if you’re not taking it as your cell mate are.. etc a lot more to say..

Everyone is born different. Unfortunately for some, they are too different from the society, and society has standards and boundaries for what is normal and abnormal. Do not judge anyone for their behavior, to be or not to be within the boundaries of society's expectation as it is mostly not within one's control. Think about being born to their kind of circumstance, environment, upbringing and genetic makeup. All these are beyond control. I pray that God will provide the circumstances, intellect and environment for these individuals to adjust and fit into the society.
