I bought one retail from the local Apple Store back when my previous display died. I have no issues with a whine in the power supply. I have used it for fine color correction, as well as digital darkroom and design work, using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Powering it is my Mac Pro 4,1 dual quad-core Intel Nehalem. I do intend to upgrade graphics and boot drive. I’m a little worried about upgrading the CPUs to dual 6-core.

Welcome to the Cinema Display family! I feel that people don't understand that buying a vintage apple product is like buying an old British sports car. Its not always about being practical or sensible Its a whole design ethos being completed as a unit, Mac Pro + Cinema Display, the way Apple intended for the whole "pro" workstation experience to be like 8 years ago. Whats awesome is that it still works, still looks classy AF, and surprisingly holds its value. Congrats!

A 27" LED Cinema Display is cheaper by a few hundred. I picked up a Thunderbolt Display a week ago for $150 dollarydoos but that was an absolute steal. They usually go for $700-800AUD while a 27" LED Cinema Display is usually $500-600. So it really depends on how much you value ethernet, FireWire and TB passthrough ports. Both displays only have USB 2.0
