Cal Newport provides a teenagers guide to the deep life. Cal was recently asked how an ambitious teenager can put all of his advice into practice.
Cal provides several tips for a teenager to consider and it starts with being ten times more organized than others when doing school work. Also Cal stresses to be wary of the specifics of your later life too early.
You want to focus on laying the foundation to take advantage of opportunities later. It's also key to have physical and mental disciplines.

About Cal Newport:
Cal Newport is a computer science professor at Georgetown University. In addition to his academic research, he writes about the intersection of digital technology and culture. Cal's particularly interested in our struggle to deploy these tools in ways that support instead of subvert the things we care about in both our personal and professional lives.

As a KZbinr and 20 year old myself, I relate to this massively. Social media can help us but ONLY if we produce and never (or VERY rarely) consume.

Get freedom, and set a schedule. Mine is from 7pm, and only 5 hours of use. I wake up at 4am so I'm shattered by the time 7 comes.

I've never had facebook since it ever started. Never had instagram, tik tok, etc... (only youtube) After 22yrs since social media began and NOT having social media, I'm still alive with my group of friends since highschool. You're not missing out on anything without social media. You are actually losing time on social media. If you spent 1hr a day on social media. After 22yrs, you've wasted 1year of your life on social media. In 1year you could have traveled the world, learned new skills, develop and experience new things. Rather you wasted 1 year of your life looking at pictures commenting on stupid things. If you make it to 80yo, you would have lost 3-4years of your life on social media. How to rid your addiction... just delete it. Trust me you'll be fine, and even better without it.
