Hey for future reference 12k is not the max weight of your steer axle. Any single axle can be 20,000 if its components are rated for it. Check your steer tires for their weight rating most truck steer tires are rated for 7,100 pounds each or 14,200 for the set. Then check your steer axle rating should be somewhere on your door jam. You didn't need to do all that cranikg on the landing gear. Just lower it until it touches the ground and then dump your airbags in the tractor. That will take the pressure off of the 5th wheel. Also, look on the Vin sticker on the inside of you driver side door frame and loom what your steer axel weight is rated for. Whatever it says is what you can Haul legally. Now that you adjusted the 5th wheel don't move it again

They will give you 120lbs on your steers just as long as your other axels are good and your not overweight. And if all else fails hop on the turnpike there's no scales

Don't waste your time sliding the 5th wheel they will never give you a ticket for steer weight.

I just had that conversation about steers I think we all believe 12k initially until were placed in this situation

Dude 12,120 is fine. 1st) you’re gonna burn fuel off. That’ll take weight off your steers and drives. 700lbs for ever 100 gallons. You can do the math at your MPG. 2nd) the allowed steer axle weight is what the rating on the sidewall of the tire is.
@drichards2754 ай бұрын
Alex. Look at the rating of your front axle on your door sticker. It will tell you the max allowable weight of it. Mine is 13200. That is the max but still 80k gross. Most states will allow 400 +/- on the drives or gross for APU.

Check the sticker on the driver side door jam or it could be on the door or on the truck it’s gonna show you what your truck front axle is rated for it shows you even the drive tires usually it’s 13200

I can't even wrap my head around these new modern trucks and truck drivers. Honestly this is why you always see these curb sniffers pulled over by troopers. Troopers apparently like aggravating them
