Hey for future reference 12k is not the max weight of your steer axle. Any single axle can be 20,000 if its components are rated for it. Check your steer tires for their weight rating most truck steer tires are rated for 7,100 pounds each or 14,200 for the set. Then check your steer axle rating should be somewhere on your door jam. Most trucks are rated for 13,200

You didn't need to do all that cranikg on the landing gear. Just lower it until it touches the ground and then dump your airbags in the tractor. That will take the pressure off of the 5th wheel. Also, look on the Vin sticker on the inside of you driver side door frame and loom what your steer axel weight is rated for. Whatever it says is what you can Haul legally. Yes each state had a axle weight restriction but in my 27 years driving I have found most DOT will not mess with you as long as your within your trucks speced limits.

To all of you FANBOYS… Alex is no longer working at GP TransCo for several weeks now… for all the perks they gave him he didn’t perform enough, and his constant complaining became too much of a detriment to keep him on board, so he’s gone… his beloved “Kenny” is now in the hands of of a more deserving employee, who actually does real trucking, and earns money for the company.. To all of you that would apply to GP TransCo because of Alex, please do not apply….. Here is what they are really looking for in terms of experience.. 3 years minimum of OVER THE ROAD, ( away from home) NO ACCIDENTS, NO TICKETS , and a Desire to work according to DOT rules. Not what Alex was doing.. He was an under performing inexperienced wannabe driver … he wanted to be in bed by 15:00 pm, did not want to drive 6 days a week, and wanted lots of time off… he basically threw this treatment in the faces of all the drivers at GP as if he was “special “. He was not… All he was and is is a JOB HOPPING VIDEO BLOGGER… who tries to drive as a side project and it shows in any one of his videos.. GP is a top company, Alex was not worthy to drive for them and finally they figured it out… I for one am so glad he’s gone, and he now can stop pretending to represent the drivers at GP.. real drivers do not drive the way he did, he is a stupid driver and employee and that’s why he did not last at any company for more than 2 years… He just cannot do the job… He never gave advice about trucking, he gave advice on cooking, cleaning, kayaking, going to Disney world etc.. You should always be able to keep your 5th wheel centered between your drives and move your rear tandems forward or back to balance your weight. If you do it correctly your weights should be within/around with full tanks) s=11,500 d=32500 t=32500 I would do weights similar to that hauling Coors loads. ( 40k plus or minus )

Oh,, and Alex when backing into a spot whether dock or parking spot, as you approach your space, stop look at it and then look exactly opposite of the spot to help you determine how to maneuver into your space. Don’t just trust your mirrors.

You need to move forward on the scale. Have your window to where the call button is. Also steer axle weights depends on your tire rating 😁👍 But typically you’re allowed 12500 if you have an Apu 😁👍

Well you need to study a bit more on weight items. As a general rule the steer axle weight is limited to 12000 lbs. The states that allow higher limits are few, and the front suspension would also have to be rated for that weight. Most if not all OTR trucks have a suspension rated at 12000. Hope that helps.

Dude 12,120 is fine. 1st) you’re gonna burn fuel off. That’ll take weight off your steers and drives. 700lbs for ever 100 gallons. You can do the math at your MPG. 2nd) the allowed steer axle weight is what the rating on the sidewall of the tire is.
@drichards275
@drichards275 4 ай бұрын
Alex. Look at the rating of your front axle on your door sticker. It will tell you the max allowable weight of it. Mine is 13200. That is the max but still 80k gross. Most states will allow 400 +/- on the drives or gross for APU.
