Glad you're being safe with the straps in the trailer. Hauled nothing but paper rolls for a good number of years and never once threw a strap in the trailer. Never had an issue with them moving either, the rubber mats on the floor generally prevents movement. As you've probably noticed you need to take curves and turns slower due to the height of the rolls. Hope this helps you. Keep on truckin and keep the shiny side up.
@mikefeddersen2476

First load of paper rolls 11 years ago, 6 at roughly 7,000 pounds each. They put them on the rubber mats. I go to the truck stop and weigh my tandems, everything is perfect. As I am driving down the interstate someone cuts across 3 lanes of traffic, I thought I just tapped the brakes. 300 miles later I pull across a scale near Menomonee Wisconsin, my little tap shifted 3 rolls and now I am 4800 pounds over on drivers. $995 fine, company paid it, but I should have known somehow... F JB Hunt .

What did you do,find the only wet spot in the yard to close the trailer doors? This makes for wonderful Viewing i have never witnessed anyone agonizing over every single piece of minutiae associated with a truck wether it is picking up/ delivering/ fueling/ parking for the night / parking for a break / parking to go into a Walmart!! It’s exhausting watching him get tied in knots just thinking about some of this stuff, and as for parking up at 3-4:00 in the afternoon that’s fine,but get up early enough to compensate for whatever may come up , getting lost , traffic , getting lost , stopping for a break and don’t forget getting lost will also help with being late for an appointment. Keep on keeping on

I was taught and learned it's the truth; If ya can't handle the heat in the kitchen, get out of the kitchen. There's significantly more people in New York City and the immediate area near. Thus the issue you have with traffic is going to be considerably worse. There are 49 other states to haul to, your not going to or from New York still leaves you with the same basic issue's in all of the rest, but not to the degree, where you fill the heat your feeling.

And he's OVERLY cautious at everything from merging to parking. And THOSE hazard lights on ALL OF THE TIME (tick tock, tick tock). And he never plans routes ahead, so he starts complaining when he encounters road work and tryies to find a new one amidst slowly backing up screaming to his GPS (with his hazard lights ON 😂). Did I mention that I like his content? Because I do, but I'm no trucker so I can't claim to know better.

Don't know how you OTR guys do it. I was regional LTL line haul / relay on a dedicated run from the Chicago area to Cleveland/Akron, Ohio. No customers to deal with, no sleeping in my truck (hotels), just terminal-to-terminal trailer delivery. I drove doubles most of the time but did haul 40', 45', 48' and 53' straight trailers often as well. The only thing that sucked was having to 'haunt' the Chicago area rail yards just to get freight. Had to do that a couple of times per week on the worst weeks. You OTR drivers are awesome.

Man I get it. It’s not the drivers that was super scary for me it’s the horribly planned out loading bays that I had to drop trailer off at. For example there was a loading bay that was just barley wide enough for the trailer with no margin for error and on top of that I had to block up 4 lanes traffic to get the trailer in luckily all the unloading crew came helped me back it in there and hold up traffic. If there is one thing I have learned is don’t be in hurry just relax and take your time. Good luck brother and stay safe man you got this

As for getting cut off. I am from NYC area, trust me, when people act selfish and rude, they mean it. Its jsut the way it is. LIke a lot of people/things, unless someone actually has experience doing something (like being a truck driver), they just don't get it (or don't care). People from the NYC city area are voted the rudest in America, year after year. It never occurs to people that are rude to truck drivers that they rely on truck drivers to deliver their goods (sometimes medicine), especially now more then ever. Self Driving Trucks are NEVER GOING To happen on a large scale, these projects that you seen tech companies pitching is just that, a project to get venture capital funding, so these tech companies can spending the next 10 or 15 years doing research/product development but never implement their ideas on scale. And America will never go back to using trains to shipping goods on a mass scale either (its just the American culture, we don't live in the 'United' States of America, we live in the 'Fragmented' states of America, where each state competes with other states).

No, it does not hurt to put straps in. It's a DOT requirement. Without straps, it's unsecure. Load DOT violation.

Hes already stated in past videos that he has to fuel where the company tells him to fuel He has no choice on that. Same thing happened to my brother when he worked for US express.

Are there rules for parking next to tankers, or hazmats? Or is it just preference not to park by them?

The reason it's handling like that. Because you got your fifth wheel all the way back. Your fifth whale should be in between your drives.

Why are you saying you need to fuel up multiple times a day? My brother in christ you only need to fill up once a day lol. My company gives us fuel solutions that are generally once a day fuelings unless it's a long journey and the first one is to top up. No need to break up fuelings for showers
