Well, all that players came from the great Yugoslavian school and strong Yugoslavian league, and many of them were U-21 world champions, playing later for the best clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Juventus, Parma, Lazio, Napoli... Also, the war just gave them motivation, so the success was quite expectable.

Croatia was the best team of the WC. They actually played better than France in that semifinal. If it wasn't for Boban's mistake who gifted the 1-1, they would have gone the final. Football is cruel most of the times.

Maybe these players don't really represent France because France is mostly white but the fact is that France isn't white people and Europe only. So stop with this type of racist comments which shows your lack of knowledge about France. Second, Croatia had the easiest possible course. In 2014 they failed in group stages because they faced Brazil and Mexico, if this year they faced them they would have surely lost. I don't know why they've won your heart, if you wet your pants because a little team reach a WC final by beating weak teams that's your problem but don't say that they deserved more than a team who have beaten a great team like Belgium.

Tchek republic, serbia, croatia all the East USSR satellites come out great technicians. Croatia was definitely the unexpected new comer. But Brazil, Germany was favorite. France barely made it in the finals due to their early loss in the last world cup. The fact that the final was in "Stade de France" brought another level to the game. Homecoming sort of speak. Back then, we've had so many leaders in that team. Each one of them could pull the team to the victory if needed: Boban, Šuker, Prosinečki, Asanović, Bokšić, Stanić, Jarni, Vlaović - even Bilić and Štimac as defenders and Ladić as goal-keeper - all strong personas. Almost all of them renown coaches and football figures now. Today, who is of the leading kind? Modrić, ok. Who else? No one else. That's our problem today. I wish them luck. They're going to need it.

Yes as in terms of quality, but back then we played better as a whole and had more heart. Now it's hard to predict their performances. Sadly lot's of players on the team just play for money now and don't take pride of wearing the red and white jersey expect Modric

Back then, we've had so many leaders in that team. Each one of them could pull the team to the victory if needed: Boban, Šuker, Prosinečki, Asanović, Bokšić, Stanić, Jarni, Vlaović - even Bilić and Štimac as defenders and Ladić as goal-keeper - all strong personas. Almost all of them renown coaches and football figures now. Today, who is of the leading kind? Modrić, ok. Who else? No one else. That's our problem today. I wish them luck. They're going to need it.
