For Tao to be the one to notice Nick’s pain and offer him comfort goes to show how much Tao values the people around him, and what a loyal friend he is. It’s amazing how their relationship has evolved since the bowling alley. ❤️

I can cry every time I see someone reacting to the scene of Nick crying on Tao's shoulder. I remember the first party Nick and Charlie snuck out to be alone and have their first kiss; then the time they escaped from Tara's party in Paris and agreed to always escape parties to be together. Seeing Nick alone there is heartbreaking, and it's so beautiful to see how his friendship with Tao has grown

Hey, lovely video (as lovely as it can be when it comes to such heavy yet important topics)! I don't know if it is relevant, but as someone who had a very similar experience with mental illness, I can tell for sure that it's very well represented in the show. These talks are also essential and approached in such a gentle and clear way. Love it, and of course, thank you for reacting to this with your community ❤

i love this show so much. the scene where tao sits with nick always gets me, especially because the first time this happened in season 1 nick sat with tao and tao was not having it, and now we have them sitting as true friends. and darcy and isaac continue to get the best one liners in the show also darcy's 'im not a lady its weird' was literally me as a kid saying 'im not a sir its weird' and now im nonbinary by way of being agender

Did you notice that when they kissed at the clinic in the bushes they played the same music as their first kiss at Harry’s party? Just my opinion but I like to think they did that intentionally to signify a fresh start. What does everyone think?

This has been the hardest point in the Nick-Charlie journey by far. The end of episode 3 to Nick’s half of 4 is just devastating. But of course, it’s just lancing the infection that is the hidden mental illness that has been tormenting Charlie-and while lancing an infected wound is never pleasant it is necessary to bring about healing. But as we’ve been given plenty of time and reason to become attached to these characters the story development is incredibly painful-as you recognized. As a kinda aside I spent some time cross-referencing all the available info to reveal the timeline-with relative dates-starting from when Nick & Charlie first met. Most of the information comes from the graphics novels (and the novels & the Netflix dramatization aren’t 100% congruent, though they are amazingly close for an adaptation). I can therefore say that Charlie returned home on December 17. These events are towards the end of volume 4. Nick’s Birthday was September 4th, pretty much right after term began. He’s therefore now 17. The one year anniversary of their initial meeting is January 4th so that date is rapidly approaching. Ugo, you chose to leave out one of my favorite scenes in your edit of the KZbin reaction-how could you!!! When Nick “opens” Charlie’s gift he finds it’s all the hoodie Charlie absconded being returned with the explanation that they don’t smell like Nick anymore. It’s not Nick’s gentle teasing of Charlie over that that I miss, it’s the nod to Charlie’s mutual need to have Nick with him all the time. Charlie rarely comes out and says it but his passion is no less intense for his quietness. I think Nick is continuously surprised at the intensity of his feelings for Charlie-Charlie isn’t surprised at the intensity of his feelings for Nick, he’s just… the imperfect word is “relieved” but by it I mean the feeling of safety one gets at arriving back home, finding peace. At least so far. And then there’s the note Charlie wrote to Nick in his album. You didn’t react to that but I trust you saw it-to my mind it shouted I Love You in context. Nick appears to have taken it that way. 😊 (I’m not criticizing your reacting; we might have made different choices in selecting what to include but I understand you need to choose amongst the various scenes that make up the episode-and it’s unrealistic to expect anyone to fulfill every expectation. The “smells like me” scene was so visceral, though, that I was genuinely surprised you left it out. Some other reactors have too but I think they may have done so because the scene embarrassed them; I don’t believe that was your reasoning, I suspect it was just a choice). So two more dbl episodes to go. Harking back to my concordance, the Novella This Winter corresponds to the episode of the same name (5). I’ll let drop that Volume 5 of the graphic novel starts on April 27th (Charlie’s 16th birthday). It ends at the same point in time as the third Netflix season. If anyone is trying to sync their reading of the novels with the Netflix shows I hope this helps.
