Come Join Me On My First Time Watching Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith
It has been three years since the Clone Wars began. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) rescue Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous, the commander of the droid armies, but Grievous escapes. Suspicions are raised within the Jedi Council concerning Chancellor Palpatine, with whom Anakin has formed a bond. Asked to spy on the chancellor, and full of bitterness toward the Jedi Council, Anakin embraces the Dark Side.

The fact that you are going into this completely blind and in chronological order rather than theater release order makes this reaction so much more engaging! Not knowing which characters will survive to the next trilogy raises the stakes immensely.

The lightsaber duel between Anakin/Vader and Obi-Wan on Mustafar is HANDS-DOWN my favorite in the prequel trilogy. The score, fight choreography, graphics, sound design and emotional impact are all so fantastic. Especially paired against the other climactic duel between Yoda and Palpatine on Coruscant.

I am unbelievably excited to see your reaction to Episode IV. As I'm sure you know by now, that was the first movie released (all the way back in 1977) and Lucas released the films out of order (he felt the technology wasn't there yet in the 70s to achieve the vision he had for Episodes I-III) but he always intended for them to be watched in chronological order once his saga was complete.

Anakin and Padme are example of couple who started as very healthy one, as what drew Padme to him was his great honesty with her about everything; as politician she rarely met someone who was themselves around her and around whom she could be herself. Anakin made her fell in love with him via his sincerity and being straightforward about who he is and what he wants. He was honest even about his dark moments like killing Sand People. But while relationship started healthy, Anakin himself was unheathly, unable to move on from death of his mother and desperate to keep other woman he loved with him, and his love gradually became possesive and relationship - toxic. Their love story represent at the same time the best and the worst type of relationships - their feelings to each other were deep and true, but at the same time they detsroyed their lives. Ancient Greeks believed Eros to be both blessing and curse - and that poetically encompases in Anakin and Padme 💘💔

Great reaction ! Didn't disapoint at all :) Now Rogue one is next and then episodes 4,5,6 ^^ You just witnessed the origin story of Darth Vader (from episode 1 to 3) I love the tragic behind the fact that all of that happens because of trying to prevail the future/premonitions and by doing that it actually happens. Anakin by having his visions of Padme dying and trying to do all in his powers to prevail that, he actually the one who did it (Padme died of a heartbreak). The same with the jedi, they were actually scared of Anakin's future from the start even when he was just a kid (in episode 1) and by trying to control him, they actually unleash Vader himself. And yes, you can see (potentials) future with the force that's why Anakin knew his dreams of Padme were real. It happened with his mother in episode 2 remember ? ^^ By the way, you keep saying Vader killing kids, etc but I'm sorry, Thanos did the same thing because when you erasing 50 % of the universe : There are children and babies in the package, they just didn't show it where in star wars they actually dared to ^^ And about the stromtroopers, you really didn't know they were the bad guys in SW universe ? (I thought it was common knowledge ^^). In episode 2, they said they obey any order without question it and the chancellor (now the emperor) was always in charge of them. Master manipulator : He created an common ennemy (the separatists) for the jedi to accept this clone army but it was actually a trap from the start to infiltrate and gain their trusts and then ... Well you know :( And yep, the kids are Leia who will become the princess of the planet and Luke was sent to his uncle and aunt (the stepbrother and stepsister of Anakin), the family who "bought" Anakin's mother. Also, bear in mind that Vader (and even the emperor) thought that the babies were dead alongside Padme : That's why at her funeral, they put her a big belly. They faked it to the whole galaxy she died before having them. That's also why Vader is in this state of mind : He thinks he lost Everything :( Sorry for my bad english and for the long comment ;)

What Palpatine done to get Ankin's allegiance? He treated him with kindness, he constantly expressed how he believes in him and he supported Anakin's decision to avenge his mother. On contrary Obi-Wan and other Jedi constantly expressed their doubt to Anakin and they keep telling him how he should not act as if he cared about his mother and woman he is in love with, that he should be detached from his feelings and they did not allow him to return for his mother. Of course, we know that Plapatine never cared for Anakin and it was all game, but that is not how it looked from young Anakin persrpective. He saw guy who believed in him and wanted good for him, while Jedi were teaching him but keep preventing him from being happy.

@@spencergrady4575 Just because Obi-Wan had good intentions doesn't mean he supported Anakin in right way. Obi-Wan constantly belittled Anakin and he never moved finger to help Shmi, despite fact he was Anakin's guardian for whole decade. He also blocked Anakin's Jedi trial, so Anakin couldn't becaem Jedi Knight and go for his mother himself. Obi-Wan never give him advice how to find balance between love and attachment instead he tried make Anakin to be void of any emotions. Anakin stopped talking to him about Padme because he felt he could no longer trust Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan did not support Anakin, he supported his idea of whom Anakin should be. He never let Anakin be his own person.
@spencergrady4575
@spencergrady4575 5 ай бұрын
@pendragonsxskywalkers9518 he did not belittle Anakin, he correctly deduced Anakin was growing too cocky and arrogant and attempted to temper those qualities. The Jedi Council did not allow them to go for Shmi, not Obi-Wan. Had Obi-Wan removed himself from the Jedi things would have turned out far worse, as Anakin wanted access to the archives only Masters could receive, and without Obi-Wan he'd have become for more desperate. Obi-Wan did know about Anakin and Padme but pretended not to. If you watch the Clone Wars this will become painfully obvious. He only blocked his trial when he wasn't ready. He was also the reason Anakin DID become a Jedi; one of the youngest times ever do it AFTER also forcing Yoda's hand into allowing him to train him in the first place. Even in RotS we see Obi-Wan all but assuring Anakin he'd become a Master in due time. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon even discuss the fact that Anakin had the wisdom and training to make the right choices but did not. None of this is to say Obi-Wan didn't make ANY mistakes, but it's hysterical when people try to defend a man who murdered children by saying his mentor, Obi-Wan freaking Kenobi, was not good enough 😂

@pendragonsxskywalkers9518 5 ай бұрын
@@spencergrady4575 1) And how it turned? That Anakin and his relationship became strained tells it all. Obi-Wan could still guide Anakin without belittling him as every step. 2) What a nonsens. There is no evidence Jedi council did not allow them, unless some source from expnaded universe says so. Jedi had no ineterst in keeping Shmi at Watto. Obi-Wan/Jedi could easily arrange Shmi being freed. 3) Of course Obi-Wan knew. Literally EVERYONE knew, it was open secret basically. But my point is that Anakin specifically avoided talking to him about her. It is not about Obi-Wan knowing or not. It is about Anakin not being comfortable enough to trust him.
@pendragonsxskywalkers9518

@@spencergrady4575 4) Anakin might not be ready to be Jedi, but from his point of view Obi-Wan did nothing to help Shmi AND did not let Anakin help. Obi-Wan might be right in blocking Anakin, but he should at very leats go on comromise and help his padawan with making sure Shmi is alright. 5) I don't know and I don't care where Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon discussed such thing. Obi-Wan was terrible guardian. Anakin's choices are his own but Obi-Wan's behaviour overall was making Anakin insecure and alone among Jedi. If Obi-Wan truly cared about Anakin, he would see that Jedi are not actually right organization for Anakin and would help him guide Force outside of organization. 6) I was nowhere hysterical or I was defending Anakin. I was stating facts: Obi-Wan own arrogance and loaylty to orthodoxy made Anakin drawn to other father figure - Palpatine. Obi-Wan is not responsible for Anakin's actions - but he is responsible Anakin never felt at home with Jedi.

Clones were loyal to Republic, not to the Jedi. As long as Republic (aka: Chancellor Palpatine) ordered them to be obedient to Jedi, they served under Jedi. But at Palpatine's order - as long as Plapatine was leader of Republic - they stopped view Jedi as allies. That is how clones were engineered. Not their fault.

At first I didn't think there was an answer, but then I thought, if 90% of his focus is on flying, and he's using th e Force to fly, then using telekinesis would be a lot harder without losing focus. That's just my interpretation, it might not be the canon answer though. If you're wiling, I highly, HIGHLY recommend both The Clone Wars TV show that started in 2008 and the Revenge of the Sith novelization. The novelization is so underrated and barely anyone talks about it, but it is one of the greatest pieces of Star Wars media ever.

The reason Jedi appear not to use the force often in battles is because they are already using it. They are using the force to predict the enemy’s attacks and stuff like that. So if they use another force ability (like force push or pull) in the middle of a fight, it will be more tiring, and would require more focus since the 2 powers are overlapping.

Suddenly R2-D2 is able to fly in Episode II. Where were that abilities in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi? 7:10 I think Qui-Gon would have a tough time dealing with Dooku. Obi-Wan had surpassed his master in dueling by the time of Episode III and Dooku still wipes the floor with him so Qui-Gon really doesn't stand much of a chance. Since you're watching this in chronological order, I recommend sticking with that -- the next live action film in chronological order is Solo: A Star Wars Story, followed by Rogue One, then Episodes 4-6, then Episodes 7-9. I personally would also watch the tv shows in chronological order -- between Solo and Rogue One would be the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which directly ties into this film. There's some dodgy moments, but the overall story, particularly as related to Obi-Wan and Vader, makes it a worthwhile bridge between Episodes 3 and 4. And between Episodes 6 and 7 I highly recommend the Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka. For a truly simplified chronological sequence, it goes: Episodes 1-2, The Clone Wars animated movie and tv series, Episode 3, The Bad Batch, Solo, Obi-Wan, Andor, Star Wars Rebels, Rogue One, Episodes 4-6, The Mandalorian seasons 1-2, Book of Boba Fett, Mandalorian season 3, Ahsoka, Episodes 7-8, Star Wars Resistance, Episode 9. All have their good moments, all have their bad moments, all have their great moments.

Palpetine said that Plageus use the Force to create life. The theory is that Darth Plageus was Palpatine's master, and created Anakin by making Shmi Skywalker pregnant. Palpatine put the vision of Padme dying during childbirth into Anakin's mind to help turn him to the Dark Side by finding the Sith secret to save her. Then Anakin's vision comes true because he turned. Also, the Kaminoan cloners put a microchip into every clone's brains that forces them to obey Order 66. That's revealed in Season 5 of the Clone Wars animated series. Vader killed the kids because his master told him to kill ALL the Jedi.

Its not a theory, unless you prefer disneys ”canon”(🤮). He was palpatines master and he and palpatine are responsible for anakins birth, albeit not deliberatly. Anakin is basically an avatar of the force, created in response to, mainly plageious, violating the nature of the force in his experiments to such an extent that the force directly responded to it.

Pros and cons of watching in release order vs chronological order. The big twists in 4-6 are already known (family tree). But, if you watch 4-6 first, then you knew that Anakin became Vader in the prequels. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Be prepared for a drop in visual effects with 4. It came out in 1977. It was cutting edge at the time, and still holds up. But Lucas pushed the envelope with every film. ROTS was the culmination of decades of work, ANH was the star. If you’re used to the effect quality (ie lightsaber battles) then the first one might underwhelm. Watching in release order, you can appreciate the progression of what they were able to do with practical and special effects (that’s another thing…original trilogy is mostly models, real sets, stop motion where the prequels were green screen and special effects). Finally, watch Rogue One next, then 4-6. You can branch out into other movies/shows afterwards…

As a lover of both Star Wars and the MCU, I'd vote Star Wars intro as more iconic, just because it's been around since 1977. But that's definitely an opinion. 😉

We do see Darth Maul more in the TV series and a spin-off movie, General Grievous as well to a lesser degree, but that would be a lot to get into this soon lol. It was pretty crazy seeing this in theaters when I was 12. Obviously I kinda knew how it was gonna end since episodes IV, V & VI were already out and like most I'd seen those but that gave it a real sense of dread going in

Absolutely magnificent reaction. You caught much more than most people, symbolism, themes, writing and PLOT. Should've watched Clone Wars 2D before this, but it's ok. It's a two-hour animated micro-series between Ep 2 and 3 made by the same guy who made Samurai Jack. Connects both movies and shows a little bit more of Grievous in action if you were interested in that. That'd be great for the re-watch of Ep III. BUT if you want to jump to the next movie you need to find Ep 4: A New Hope, which was the first ever Star Wars movie made from 1977, it continues the story about 2 decades later. Then you go Ep 5 and 6. Take into account these were old movies, corrected with some digital effects in the 90's. There's A LOT of stuff, novels, comics and games, but George Lucas was only involved in one videogame, that connects both trilogies The Force Unleashed 1 from 2008, and then there's 5 seasons of a show called "The Clone Wars" (not the same as "Clone Wars"). There's been some stuff after that but George wasn't involved AT ALL, and honestly would not recommend to blend the Lucas universe and the Disney universe cause they're too different, specially the process of making the movies and shows. You might find yourself liking one more than the other. Having said that this is the order you should be watching: LUCAS ERA: - Ep 1: The Phantom Menace (1999) - Ep 2: Attack Of The Clones (2002) - Clone Wars 2D, by Genndy Tartakovsky (2003) - Ep 3: Revenge Of The Sith (2005) - The Force Unleashed 1 (2008) / Game OPTIONAL but great - Ep 4: A New Hope (1977) - Ep 5: Empire Strikes Back (1980) - Ep 6: Return Of The Jedi (1983) - The Clone Wars (2008) Animated in CG/ Only the first 5 seasons from Lucas ______________________________ Some hightlights from the Disney Universe in order of priority: - The Clone Wars (2013-2020) seasons 6&7 - Andor (2022) TV series / 2nd season is comming this year so you got to time to watch The Clone Wars - Rogue One (2016) happens right after Andor - Mandalorian (2019) seasons 1&2 - Everything else: OPTIONAL (could not emphasize this more, you don't need to watch anything else cause the story is DONE with all these in the list.) Take your time, don't rush into this list cause the Lucas universe has a lot to take in and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.

You have to see the rest of the movies. The next 3 4/5/6 were the original movies, so, they were filmed in the 70s and 80s, but the movies tell a lot. Lucas never planned on making anymore films after the first 3 in 1977-1983. These prequels tell the early story. Then you have all the way to Star Wars 9.

Tbr I can’t believe the Jedi didn’t say anything when he killed the sand people like that, that almost seems like he should’ve lost his Jedi card then. Not saying I’m not sympathetic to the reasoning, grief can make us do crazy shit, but the issue with anakin was always his fear of loss. I think that first instance proved he literally mentally couldn’t handle loss. He felt as if he had to save everyone and he felt frustrated that he couldn’t. Imagine being called “the chosen one” but the people you love keep dying and you’re powerless to help

@ I’m not really saying it’d change anything I’m just saying for them to maintain a level of moral consistency there would have to be a consequence of some sort, his hatred consumed him to the point where he killed even the women and children. And I don’t think anakin was on the council when he killed the sand people. To be clear, nothing would’ve changed at all. Really with the hindsight we have from being able to watch the movie as observers you’re absolutely right, if they had given anakin more trust in the council they could’ve swayed his opinion of palpatine.

That's not what it means. George Lucas has said plenty of times and there's been plenty of times it's been mentioned in comics, books, shows, etc. that balance means destroying the Sith. Balance in this situation means order and not literal equal numbers. The Sith corrupt the Force and force it to bend to their will unlike Jedi and other force users. Turning back to the light and killing Palpatine is what brings balance to the Force.

Since you are seeing the entire franchise in order; your best bet would be to watch the Obi-Wan series (which only has 6 episodes under 40 minutes), then Rogue One and finally Episode IV, V and VI. The other series (Clone Wars, Bad Batch and Rebels) are longer so you could watch later. Excellent reaction, bro; especially real. Greetings from Peru!!

The Clone troopers are not Stormtroopers and this may be a Spoiler, but it is not since it is seen with the naked eye, the Clone troopers come from the same DNA as Jango Feet and therefore they are the same, in appearance and voice and the Stormtroopers are different people, they are Civilians who became soldiers and this is explained and shown very well both in the movies and the 2 beings called The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch.
