So I was correct, Oda wanted to put boobs on Nika form Luffy thus the Nika'ish "totally free" future of Bonney. Because other than boobage she is just a copy paste of Luffy in that form, even the face. Not to mention, NO Franky did not use haki. Just as everyone and their grandmother's has pointed out; the only ones using haki are Sanji and Bonney which you can see with the blackened fist/foot. But Franky has no such thing, HOWEVER he did call his punch *impact* strong right so I think we can all assume that he built in an impact dial to add some oumph to this hits.

Exactly. We're at a point in time for the story to really start crushing fan agendas one by one. One Piece is so long people have developed strong biases on how they THINK the story will play out, but when Oda doesn't play along they'll get upset. Can I say how refreshing this channel is you, tekking and morj are my Holy Trinity of reviews (and Artur and bestguyever) and outside of best guy ever who can be overly critical I think you are consistently the right level of critical. I see hella people saying franky has haki which isn’t true. We see bonney has haki on her arm before she attacks but Franky clearly doesn’t in the panel. I think luffy meant sanji and bonney was using haki not franky. If oda revealed Franky learn haki offscreen with 0 hints prior, that’s bad writing if I compare his awakening to usopp obs haki during dressrosa.

I think we already know the time travel element, yet to come. The key is JoyBoy's letter to the fisherman, saying he's sorry and will come back later… who says that? Not fighets going to a battle, not unless they already know they can't win… but if they can't win back then, why would 800 years later be any better? My theory is that the Strawhats will need to go back to get or find something. They meet JoyBoy (creating the letter as a consequence), and JoyBoy creates a plan (poneglyphs) to help. Too crazy?

In my opinion the main problem is that Oda once again can't stick the landing of an arc. He wrote a very good leadup to the climax of the arc and then - just like in most previous arcs - he drags it out and adds tons of unnecessary stuff for no reason whatsoever. The progress of the last 10 chapters could've been shown in only 2 or 3 chapters. It's not even an exaggeration - the only real progress in those 10 chapters was Vegapunk's announcement that the world is sinking. That's it. Outside of that the story is almost in the exact same place it was 10 chapters ago. Arcs like Dressrosa (50 chapters birdcage), WCI (30 chapters "weeeedddiiiiiing caaaakeeee" escape) and Wano (80 chapter raid) had the exact same pacing problem in their later stages.

A problem with the time-travelling to the past is that it takes away the freedom of choice. Since it already happened, Bonney and Luffy would be "forced" to travel to the past and activate the robot. On the other hand, if you leave them their freedom of choice, you get into a whole lot of logical problems. E. g. if they decide not to activate the robot in the past, it would change the whole past since that point in time.

This Bonnie moment, I believe, was the literal point of the character. Her power depends on imagination and Luffy is the god of imation, this moment with Bonnie was to lead to the crew's understanding that laughing is contagious, and enhances imagination, and that's Nika's true power: to create a literal army of Nikas. And… don't call me nuts… but I still the Kaido and Big Mom "death" extremely suspicious. I find their story arc lacking, maybe that's the problem… but Luffy can uniquely satisfy both the "old yonkos" dream. I think Yamato will find them, and maybe it was Pluton that save them, and then they protected Pluton…?! Anyway, they're pretty much the best fighters, thus best teachers "our" side could have.

From what I've seen in the fandom. It seems to be people not liking the fact that it takes away from Luffy's character. Gear 5 was a power up that was supposed to be an incredibly unique ability ever written in a Shonen manga. It's literally a power up that gives you the ability of a cartoon. Giving that ability to someone like Bonney who is just a side character was a little too much. No one was saying that this didn't make sense. Oda had been hinting that since the beginning of the arc. If there were ppl saying that this didn't make sense then they are wrong. The majority of the fanbase were complaining that it was taking away from Luffy and diminishing what gear 5 represented. It doesn't matter if Bonney can't last long or whatever. It still takes away gear 5 uniqueness. And if Bonney can simply transfer that ability to whoever then yeah of course ppl are gonna have issues with it.

Time travel is one of those things I dont like being added to stories if its already established alot of stuff. Like with kingdom hearts, it was scattered lore with some confusing story, than time travel is introduced officially later on making me roll my eyes at it. People can like these stories, but I find it can ruin/take away from it too. Itd be like if all of a sudden multiverses come into play and an evil luffy shows up with evil crew. Sounds ok in theory but idk if everyone would jump in glee for it. The mirror of Black Beard Crew vs Luffy crew has a more creative approach to it ultimately.

Bonney has no connection to the fishmen, why would she go back in time to help them. I can see why she wouldn't go back in time to save her mom or Kuma, because of Flask Point, But also, Oda said that time travel to the past is not possible, don't see him going back on that. I most likely see him coming up with another explanation to explain why the Iron Giant was awaken 200 years ago like he always does.

Confused as to why there would be a need for time travel to try and make an event that already happened happen again. Assuming this time travel works like harry potter/back to the future and not avengers endgame, what would they be going back for to change? In harry potter, harry goes back to save sirius black and unintentionally saves his own life which is a paradox in itself because if the one who saved harry was a time traveling version of himself, then the time travel already happened and there should have been no need for present harry to do it again. Say bonny and luffy go back 200 years, what changes in the present as a result of those actions? And how would the world have been in a state for luffy and bonny to do this if the robot attack 200 years ago hadnt already happened? The only way this would work for me is that if they went back in time to do something else and their pressence is what awakens the giant robot but nobody sees them directly. Fighting for fishmen rights seems like a stretch atm. I also imagine that the sheer amount of haki luffy produces in gear 5 cant possibly go unnoticed that close to marijois.

Time travel theme is always a delicate matter to put into a trama. However for how I could be agree with you about the purpose of doing that, the examples you took like it was with Harry potter has a big flaw or mistake in the theory. The same you're actually portraing here. Like if with time travel you keep to move inside a circle. It's the classical mistake of the GRANDFATHER PARADOX. If I travel back in time and I attempt to my grandfather's life then how should I be able to come back in time in the first place if I shoul'd be born at all? That's the paradox that implicates you move always inside a neverending circle and that will happen something that prevents you to kill your grandfather. What actually some fictions and other operas put as solution to this is that when you travel back in time actually you move into a complete different line. (MULTIVERSE). So if I go back to kill my grandpa, I am not killing the same grandpa from my time where I departed. I am killing the grandpa of another timeline and I will keep to exist without any problem because what I'm going to prevent is the born of another version of myself, not me specifically. So it's actually possible to go back in time inside a fictional opera without plot holes. Yes. But the thing in which I am agree with you is that going back in time shouldn't change at all the original present from where I departed, because, as stated, I am going to modify the events only inside a complete alternative timeline. The only purpose and reason of doing that is that the time traveler is totally ready to abandon the original universe where he lived and, with the knowledge of facts and experience aboout worldwide events he acquired, use that knowldge to create a better life for himself and the others and so be perfectly ready to know what to do in the new universe he choiced, in which those macro-events didn't occur yet. (i.e. what Trunks did actually in Dragon ball Z is the perfect right example)

Trunks settled for being a double in a different universe since his universe got destroyed in super. I dont think one piece wants to be that convoluted. Even more so in the multiverse sense, going back in time to create an event that already happened doesnt make sense. What im asking is what would be the motivation for this? Knowing that their actions in the past wont change the present makes this not make sense even more unless, like in avengers, they take something from the past. Outside from that, it'll make 0 sense if luffy is behind the giant robot attack 200 years ago since he lives in a timeline where that already happened.

I think every devil-fruit possibly could have a piece of Nika in all of them. Why would you think the Government REALLY wants to keep all the devil fruits and their users around for their own service? So they can manipulate how they "awaken it". Look at Rob and Kaku's "awakenings". Their cloud around their neck is black. Similar to Imu's. But Luffy and Bonnie's are white. Shaka says that certain "zoan" fruits rob the user of their mind, but what if awakenings in general could have 3 separate outcomes? Awakening into Nika being a possibility for all or some fruits? And if the government can't really pinpoint "which ones" then they'd double down and just want all of them. I personally just think Bonnie becoming Nika is good because it makes Luffy less of "all powerful, better than you Gary Sue". Gear 5 worried me. I felt it robbed Luffy of any uniqueness he had that set him apart from other shonen protags.

I love this idea but am still trying to "think like Oda", and fit this into the overall narrative, and how them going in the past in this way would push the current story forward. It would be like a post-arc, first time sailing on the sunny after whooping ass again moment - where maybe Luffy & Bonney have that moment together. Maybe that triggers something w/ Bonney unintentionally, she gets flooded w memories again and the post-fight dopamine-drop, and something happens between them. I have figured out ONE PIECE: Please Read my Theory We know Oda loves drawing drawing Tangents from his story. Sometimes people tends to call them foreshadowing. My theory is ODA has already foreshadowed the JoyBoy Crew already with the Luffy Crew. 1. Emmett = Franky. 2. Zou = Chopper. 3. The man with the Scar that roams the sea = Zoro (Zoro lacks of direction isn’t just a gag, but hint to the man that roams the sea). He’s supposed to be the man with the last Poneglyph. How do I know: The answer all lies with Toki - a woman from a distant past with a time based fruit. She’s the reason for Zou’s curse being possible. The giant elephant seems to be immortal, but isn’t a gorosei. Misconception is, it is cursed to roam the sea as part of his sin to joyboy, a curse placed on him by Imu. But why would Imu curse a creature that betrays his/her enemy. (Think about it). Therefore, he was either blessed by Imu (with immortality which he now considers as a curse, or his curse was necessary a duty for him to allow him to roam the earth till the next joy boy fulfills his goals). Considering the power of friendship, he didn’t die or endure the same fate as his crew and now suffers a survivors guilt thus, he considers itself curse. This is what I believe the awakened form of Toki’s fruit can do, allow one to continuous move escape the their limit/time of death. We have seen the manifestation of death in Wano. Somehow we know Zoro escaped it and thus somehow Zou is also escaping it somehow through what I believe is some form of time manipulation like a Gorosei. Zoro through some means on Wano, it is also due to this curse which is carried by his representative on the joyboy crew. At the end of the show, hopefully Zoro will break the curse, if not he will carry on that will of travelling, lost in the sea with something very important he has to protect at all time. (It doesn’t make sense, I know). The 3 mentioned above carry a duty from the past. Nami will be the Toki in luffy’s crew with the time fruit. He will work with Ussop to move him through time in small burst, and with Ussop developed Observation Haki, and broken aim, he will now be able to stand a chance against Van Augur as he be able to position himself and shots in proper areas few moments in the future as traps, tricking Augur to literally walk in to them. Nami will move the team into the past as an awakened fruit user, They will live and fight as the original joy boys. Most of the team dies, including her allowing Toki to be the fruits user, the goal, to being the surviving members into the future and the fruit so I can be inherited by Nami and work so they can work to avoid the entire thing from all going wrong again. This will be a flash back. This is part of the message Joy boy wrote (actually written by Nico Robin) on Laftel. This is why Gol D mentioned they were too early to join in on the fun. This is why they did nothing despite knowing everything. Any action they take can disrupt the timeline. Imu is too powerful for the the Roger crew to take on by themselves hence no need to act as they would have ultimately lost ruining everything Cause the timeline is properly documented. They all go back in the past to understand what and why they are fighting, Nami acquires the time manipulation fruit somehow maybe through her orange tree. They fight in the war same as joyboy, they will lose horribly, in an attempt to save themselves, they leave messages on poneglyphs, Nami is able to send 3 strawhats back in the future, Emmett (Franky’s unsuccessful future as portrayed by Oda) and Zoro (living as the man marked by flames), Zou (chopper) betrayed the team somehow or didn’t die with them so he suffers suvivors guilt and carry the minks and roam the world as penance. Zoro (man with flames) roam the seas with a sword protecting on the final lode poneglyphs hoping to meet Luffy in the present. (He has met Luffy, because he doesn’t know where he has to go). The final poneglyphs, tells the story from the battle past, Roger reads and understands that there’s nothing they can do because he arrived at the wrong time when it was supposed to go down in the present, so he does absolutely nothing and shares none of the information hoping not to ruin the timeline. .

200 Years ago, Emeth awakened, climbed the redline and attacked Mary Geoise. I can think of a few situatios: 1- Assuming there have been multiple users of the Nika fruit, there could have been one 200 years ago that succeeded in helping the fishmen and did Awaken the fruit in their last moments but the elders were oblivious to it (Could've also been an actual Fishman that ate the fruit, making it harder for the government to know as well). P.S If there were multiple users, maybe each had their own goal to achieve throughout the centuries until the time came for Luffy to put an end to it all. 2- Your very own video right now about a time travelling help 3- Emeth awakened upon hearing the fishmen celebrate after they gained their rights (I read this on a comment) Also where was Emeth 200 years ago before it climbed the wall? If Emeth was to climb the redline 800 years ago but ran out of energy , then he remained underwater until he heard the drums again and proceeded to continue doing his mission. We know that emeth can't hear the drums from everywhere, otherwise he would've awakened when G5 was introduced, so Nika and the drums had to be THERE. (Time traveling could be it, as you said)

I was rewatching beginning of Jaya, when Nami reads Noland's 400yo journal about Sky islands and Skyfish, Usopp remarks "It seems like Sky Islands were pretty much a normal thing for people back then" Makes me think even more that the Sky Islands are gonna be Lore Heavy with past events, not necessarily the void century, but even before that.

We also have Zoro and his ancestor in Wano. You gave me an idea what the D. stands for and how its related to this time travel. We know that the character and skills of a person are saved in their genes and can be replicated. In story also exists the theme of characters in the past beeing similiar to those today, like Joyboy, Roger and Luffy. What if the D. stands for Doppelgänger? All the D.s have some dominant genes, making them different versions of basically the same person, like different timeline versions. Those with similiar enough genes then can take the place or fuse with someone in the future/past with the help of Bonney. This can also work with Blackbeard. The leading theorie is, that he is multible people in 1 body. His Doppelgänger Xebec could have tried to travel into the future with the help of his treasure that got stolen by the WG and fused with Teach.

It would be criminal not to have Franky use armament haki on his little baby hand in his palm. Can you imagine how silly that would look if the strong right became a shoving attack and came with a tiny little armament infused fist I always kind of figured post time-skip that the wapolmetal Franky used gives him roughly the same durability as standard armament haki (think blueno or vice admiral level). He obviously has a lot of will, so I don't think he _can't_ , I think he just doesn't really see a need for it. If I had a Shogun and laser beams and light generating nipples I wouldn't really bother too much with unlocking haki. Most people/situations/problems can be solved using the weapons Franky has built.

I Sawyer, always a better sunday when you give your insights! I don't think traveling to the past is a good idea and I think Oda is the same opinion (Toki and Bonney powers). Placing the giant into the past would create a time loop for him or a parallel universe and it would be easy to have a plot hole. I think the giant was sent 600 years to the future by Toki and quickly turned off because it didn't sense Joyboy.
