I really want to see someone take a 4’ or 6’ aquascaped tank and dedicate it solely to nano fish. Like thousands of tiny rasboras. Nothing over 1.5”

I have Merah, Harlequin, and Green Kubotai Rasboras from Flip Aq and absolutely love them they are very colorful and watching the schools swim around the plants is great!

Thanks for showing these, Jason! I had not heard of them before. I might have to pick up a herd of these when I put my 10g tank up. Still trying to figure out what to stock it with but was leaning heavily towards chili rasbora. Might have to look into these as an alternative to have something a little different.

Go for both, there are people talking about the chili and the merah being the same fish, just males and females. So if you're lucky and get young fish, you might even get them to breed.

Great Species Spotlight as always, thanks Jason. Loved the long, steady view of the fish. Helped me realize that I have both Chilis and Merahs. Chilis are more boisterous and towards the top of my 10 gallon hex while the Merahs are smaller, much less red and hang towards the bottom. Still beautiful but quite different from the Chilis!

They are very similar fish - chilis have a long dark line down their bodies while the merah as more of a broken spot. I would say the chilis have a little more red too. Both are awesome!

I’m redoing my fluval 32 and adding “anoxic” filter as experiment…if I can find them locally I’m thinking 50. Ps. I probably won’t see them as much in all the plants I always keep

That's actually just some Java Moss with Duckweed caught in it. : -)

Okay I have 6 now in a normal 10 gallon, planted , established, was going to get 4 more this weekend but I’m thinking they would do fine with 15 of them? Are there any fish at all I can pair with them in a 10 gallon is my question. I know some I can pair with them but not with a 10 gallon, would it just be best to get a bigger rasbora group and not add any others ? I also have 4 ghost shrimp and 2 cherry and they all have been doing great

These look so much different than mine though , they are almost clear with a little red and a black spot on their back, yours look almost red pinkish . Does that happen when they get older ?

Yes! Give them a little time and size. Also, the darker the surroundings (background and substrate) the darker they are too.
