I discovered you in 2023. I’ve noticed many men my age, (25) actively pursuing their interests and trying to broaden their intellectual capacity. I don’t know if it’s the world around us, or the interest to simply be academically inclined. At any rate, I enjoy your perspectives and reviews. You have shown me J.R.R. Tolkien and I am forever grateful. Continue on I say! You are a master class example of a true scholar and mentor.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the book, and actually, even though they didn't recite the whole poetic section, I thought the extended edition of the movie handled this seen well. When Frodo asks Strider what happened to the woman of whom he is singing, he simply says, "She died." Those are two powerful words for those of who have read the poem and how it ends with "sorrowless". Also, I also have Peterson's Professor pipe. I'll have to light it tonight and raise a glass of Guinness to the Professor.

I love listening to Malcolm. I'd really love to hear about something rarely discussed but I think was a tremendous accomplishment of Tolkien's. Not only did he create an entire World along with it's History but he created, and used, at least in part, 5 or 6 different languages along with their written characters.

5:17 Dr. Guite I appreciate how you read poetry. I would love for you to do a bit on how to read poetry. Not just on how to scan a poem but how to give the poem tone and emotion like you do. It is a gift.
