Almost a year ago we went to Edinburgh so I could give you a tour of Edinburgh Castle .... and finally that day has come. I take you round the various buildings while I tell you stories of battles, betrayals and prison breaks. Edinburgh Castle is a spectacular place, well worth the visit and steeped in Scottish history. Afterwards I bring you along to the National Museum of Scotland. If you're remotely interested in history (or geology, or ethnography), then this is your second port of call ... and it's free entry. We mainly visited the Pictish, Roman and Early Medieval sections in the basement, looked at Pictish stones and fancy swords, before heading up to the rooftop (don't miss this!) and finished off on the ground floor. There's only so much you can take in at once. The museum is huge and there's a bit for every century of Scottish history.
(Here's a previous visit to the museum: • Day Trip to Edinburgh ... early channel days.)
We finished our day at the Edinburgh Christmas Market and admired the festive lights around the city. It's a pretty busy period, but if you love the spirit of Christmas, you'll love Edinburgh in December. I hope you enjoy the video!
