I literally grew up in that city before I came back home to Canada. My parents worked there for 30 years and trust me, I’ve traveled the world but this city by far in my opinion is the most peaceful and the most beautiful city in the world! Wonderful people, very warm and friendly Arabs.

"Very different from what you see in the news about Middle East and the Arab culture - very refreshing". As the saying goes: "Traveling makes you an open minded person"
@punjabigundaa6 жыл бұрын
UAE has always been safe for tourists though. It doesn't reflect the entire middle east. Look what has happened to Egypt. It was the safest and the best Arab country to visit but now it's one of the worst because of a regime change.
@BinuJasim6 жыл бұрын
I don't think he is talking specifically about safety, rather about the attitude of people there. The media portray Muslims, especially Arabs as evil, but what you really encounter in travel is a very different picture. That is true in all over there as I have seen people praising the hospitality and welcoming nature of Arabs and Muslims in different countries including Egypt.
@user-hm2ni6lg3j6 жыл бұрын
@@BinuJasim especially our Indian media which has got Islamphobia to a mount everest level. They also try to find any negative news regarding muslims nd when they get success they give the news some spices nd chillies for 2-3 days !! One of my neighbour told me that Dubai in UAE is such safe that she as a woman can travel on its streets even at 2am midnight !!

We lived in Al Ain for a year in 2015. It was an amazing place to live. Calm, clean, beautiful... and close to Dubai or Abu Dhabi if you need it. My favourite places were the Oasis, Green Mubazzarah (sorry for the spelling) and Jebel Hafeet, that I ran all the way up once. And when it is not too hot, a walk in the desert was amazing. The desert has always been fascinating to me. Thank you for the video.

Exceptional!! Once upon a time in one of my classes, a student from the UAE gave a presentation on the fort. So cool to see a video of it! I’ve always enjoyed my students from there as they are very friendly. Thank you for traveling there and giving us all a firsthand account of the UAE. I just found out another one of my Facebook friends is moving to the UAE. I’m envious! It seems like a great place to live and work. Happy New Year! 🎊 👍🏼✌🏼

I lived there from 1999 to 2020. In the opening shot it's the park downtown across form the Rotana. Every Tuesday from October through May a group of us from UAEU would throw frisbees. We'd have lots of people watch us and we would get locals and others to join us. I'd bring my boys and they'd play with other kids, running around the park. In the winter time during those beautiful cool days it was just so nice. Of all the things from my life in Al Ain, I think of those days most often. Al Ain is extremely peaceful and safe. It was a great place to raise young kids. My only complaint was the population grew too much for my tastes, but that's true just about everywhere.

Saloon is a South Asian term for a barber's shop. It's different from the Western saloon. In some places sedan class cars are also known as Saloon.
@GabrielTravelerVideos6 жыл бұрын
It must be a misspelling of salon though, because it's so close. Unless it's a native Indian word in some language, but seems like it must be intended to be salon.
@BinoyJS6 жыл бұрын
Yes. It looks like a misspelling caused it. :)
@TrueMexico6 жыл бұрын
The word comes from the French word 'salon', originally meaning living room. And through history 'saloon' became another spelling. It's not a misspelling of anything. French has a long history and influence in the world, so just the same way saloon ended up meaning that kind of drinking establishment in the US, other parts of the world made own versions of the word through French influence. It's just like English is very influential today with new words in foreign languages being created based on the English word. This word used in the UAE will have nothing do with the US use of the word.
@GabrielTravelerVideos6 жыл бұрын
I see, makes sense. I would have thought it would have been related to English, since the English language is so much more prominent than French in India. But maybe it came from the French presence in Pondicherry? Who knows, it's quite possible the exact origins are indeterminable at this point.
@TrueMexico6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree with that, exact origins are difficult to say especially so long after the word was first used.

I lived in Al Ain (my second favorite city in the WORLD!) for a little less than 7 months in 2009-10, and this video was a very pleasant trip down memory lane. Although I realize that your intention was to give an overall impression of the city, it would have been nice if you had done some filming in Al Ain, Jimmi, and Bawadi malls. THEN, this video would have really satisfied my nostalgia for that wonderful city (along with a nice walk on lovely Khalifa street!). By the way, I also stayed at the Almasa hotel the first week of my stay in Al Ain until I was transferred to my very nice efficiency (STUDIO) on the Mrabaa. Great video, and many thanks!

Gabriel Traveller, Happy New Year to you. Noting your comments on the heat in summer in these parts, I read somewhere recently that the record high in Dubai was 64 degrees Celsius. I am sure that similar high temperatures would be experienced all through the UAE. Perhaps not 64 but nevertheless very high often well into the 50's. It would be very difficult to go outside. I wonder if the cities close down when it gets too extreme. Keep up the great work. I always look forward to something new from you.

I am glad that you mentioned how we are forced to form ideas about things,places and people these days without realizing it. from outside it's "democracy' as they say, but in reality, we can't form our own free opinions anymore.
