This is exactly what I've been thinking about, put the coops on wheels and set it up to be as efficient as possible so that we can move them around .. The fact that you spend 15 to 20 min a day is the confirmation I was looking for! Thank you

You have an awesome coop. Love the idea of building on a frame and trailer. I've got a 4×8 trailer that needs a new floor. This is a definite idea I might take up. Hmm maybe.

How do you tie it down for storms.? I would have put nest boxes on the wheal boxes. You got very strong build!
@pbrstreetgng792 жыл бұрын
It has been through several hurricanes. I never tie it down. Never had a problem. Hurricanes=heavy rain, so my rain barrel is full during those moments. A full rain barrel is about five hundred pounds of dead weight keeping it from blowing around and staying firmly on the ground. Hope this helps!

Great video and awesome build! where did you get the steel mesh flooring from? i want to find a full 4x8 sheet and not sure if HD or lowes sell it. any advice? Thanks
@pbrstreetgng793 ай бұрын
@ggurrupleto2215 Go to your local welding shop that carries metal for sale. That mesh is known as 3/4 #9 expanded metal mesh. It can be bought in 4' x 8' sheets. Good luck!

How many chickens can you feed in this coop and how many eggs can you get daily?

This is what I will do here in Sweden this spring!! What are measures of the house?
@pbrstreetgng793 жыл бұрын
Coop measures 6 feet by 12 feet long. The walls are 51 inches tall, and the roof is at an 8/12 roof slope. Hope that helps!

I’ve been researching a build for my coop & just love your design. Very well thought out! Two questions, how many chickens do you have & have you had any problems with snakes coming up through the flooring? Thanks
@pbrstreetgng79 Жыл бұрын
Never had a problem with snakes. Anything small enough to fit through the mesh is bound to be eaten by the chickens! At my peak, I had over 60 chickens in that coop. Hope this helps. Thanks!

This is great!! Do you have the building plans by chance (or remember the measurements)? I would love to do something similar to your design.
@pbrstreetgng795 жыл бұрын
I honestly just thought it up in my head. The walls are 51" tall and the roof has an 8/12 slope. The measurements really depend on the trailer you build on.

What do you do about cold winter air coming in from floor
@pbrstreetgng792 жыл бұрын
Nothing. Chickens feathers are naturally insulating. My flock was completely fine even when the temperatures got down into the twenties. They all bunch together on the roosts and keep warm.
@xyooj964 жыл бұрын
very nice, how many birds can you put in there?

How did it survive hurricane Ian
@pbrstreetgng792 жыл бұрын
Without a scratch. It's been through a few hurricanes with 60-70 mph winds. We don't usually get crazy winds in my part of Florida.

How do you keep algae from growing in your barrel
@pbrstreetgng79 Жыл бұрын
A little bit of bleach every so often. Also, don't use a clear rain barrel to cut down on sunlight.
@soota60835 жыл бұрын
That is pretty amazing! I do have a question and this might sound dumb but how do you move it around? Do you attach it to a truck or atv or can it be lifted possibly? Thanks!
@pbrstreetgng795 жыл бұрын
I have a towing attachment for the bucket on my tractor. I just pick it up and move it around the property. Takes two minutes.

When you harvest water like that do you treat it with anything? Thanks!
@pbrstreetgng794 жыл бұрын
Yes we do. Occasionally we will put a small amount of bleach in, just to kill any nasty things that might be lurking. 6 drops of bleach per gallon is usually the rule.

@pbrstreetgng794 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by sill plate
@martyp.9924 жыл бұрын
@@pbrstreetgng79 Apologies- In a wall for a house or a building where it attaches to the floor it's called a sill plate. I didn't know what else to call it??? I'm referring to the bottom of the walls -where it attaches to the frame of the trailer. It looks like you through bolted the wood to the channel around the trailer but I could not tell for sure.

Oh ok. I just mounted the walls to the trailer floor with heavy duty carriage bolts. I used about 34 in all.

For the roost I would use full size two by fours at a even level because of the way they lay their body down when they Roost that's just my two cents take it or leave it. Definitely a roost is not a perch a roost is where they sleep so I'm just saying otherwise great video

First let me say this coop is truly beautiful. But let me ask, do your chickens give you enough profit to make this a wise investment? Please pardon me I am not trying to be a smart a$$. Joel salatin said good enough is good enough, no need for perfection. What he is saying is every venture has to be profitable. No one thing is going to make you rich but a bunch of little profitable ventures can keep your farm alive and in the black Now in saying that, your coop is a masterpiece and I do not blame you one bit if you were to proudly show it to everyone
@pbrstreetgng7920 күн бұрын
@vincentmiceli2554 Thank you for your comment. This coop became profitable after about 2 yrs of operation. Our free range eggs are highly sought after, and many of our customers overpay for our eggs due to the quality. Free ranging creates a yolk that is blood orange in color for our eggs. The taste is amazing.
