I have a dish 500, 1000.2, directv slimline I use for FTA use WITH THE ORIGINAL LNBS and they pick up stations perfectly!

Park that 6 foot on 103w. There are really strong transponders on that satellite. I would love that size of dish. I have limited space. Good video

Hey Northcoaster, I'm north of my town , just looked out back behind this store and I see 3 ku or c band dishes one is not the wire mesh type but solid like a giant satellite dish 👍👍📶 they look 8' (??)

One of the only dishes I have it holding up my lunch right now. I get a lot of channels just from my antennas and among them are the ones I care to watch. Where you are, your situation is very different.

The dish network wally is a great signal amplifier in my experience for FTA or OTA hookups

I did manage to hook up a directv reciever and get free channels with the 101W satellite

Very cool sir !! I can just feel all that free signal 📶 😂😂 Are you not a uhf/vhf guy ?? Those dishes do look more presentable and orderly compared to the 24 bays ive got on my roof 📶🤣

I've flunked with a few dish and direct dishes. I use a red LED digital meter with tone and it also homes me in on ground interference. 97 west and a bunch in the middle are blocked. My LNB is a Bullseye BE01. I have grabbed a few transponder lists but no pictures.

Thinking about getting back into the hobby after 20 years. Is it worth it? Doesn't seem so. I mainly like live feeds and back hauls. Are there still a lot of them? And is it worth getting a motor to move the dish? I'd be happy parking the dish on one great Ku bird. Thanks.

There is still lots of stuff out there, the thing is in North America is that there are only a few channels on each satellite. It’s not like Europe where you have dozens of channels on a single bird. In North America, you can find selection channels on 97, 99, 101, and 117 KU, with other satellites, having a few odd channels on each. There’s definitely more on C Band. Feeds are sporadic and can pop up on any satellite at any time.

Is it OK for the dish to move slightly in the wind?

Slightly perhaps- but make sure all bolts are tight.

I would like to see a video on what content is available with the satilite dishes. You mentioned Infowars, which I thought was out of business. NASA is going to shut down. PBS is still available. It think there is some religious stuff. What else is available?

Same here. Looking at Lyngsat, doesn't seem like it's worth it, except if there are a ton of live feeds and news events. We used to chase that stuff and report it online.

The lineup of channels on a given satellite varies. Some satellites have more FTA channels than others. There are definitely more free channels on C Band than there are on KU Band. I have made a few videos detailing the channels available on a few satellites and plan on doing more. Encryption status for each channel can change as well, meaning that some channels may be in the clear for a while and then they will be closed again. Channels can be added and removed at any time. A big part of the hobby is scanning satellites to see what’s out there at any given moment.

I thought analogue broadcast was ended in 2021, Googling and reddit says there are only a few small places in the us that still broadcast but as of 2023 that ended. How come everything says this can’t be done in 2024? How much longer do you think you’ll be able to get stations before it’s actually all gone?

Have you been able to get 101 and 103w on your c band dish I know with certain ones it’s possible

@@CSXRailfan6588 I can receive all the channels on whatever satellite I’m tuned to. Having a 10-foot dish makes a difference I think.

@@CSXRailfan6588 Are you using an older LNB? Some older ones have a servo motor that is used to control polarity, switching between vertical and horizontal. Another thing to check the settings in your receiver to make sure that polarity is set to ‘Auto’. Auto Polarity Setting - Amiko Mini Satellite Receiver kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqTYXpyXmdCaaMU Also, if you’re using a splitter, then you will lose either vertical or horizontal channels, depending on what polarity your master receiver is tuned to.
