I disagree!!! I like my kitchen to look out on the garden and it’s easy to carry trays of food to just outside the door for outdoor dining! This way they have a place to put their big screen TV that also provides a bit of privacy! I love the modern interior decor of both your sister’s house and your parent’s home.

As your parents age, you'd be very wise to attach a railing to the wall for the full length of the stairs and right up to the top of the stairs that they can hold onto as they step down and descend the stairs. I'm elderly and that's the first thing I noticed. Very important for safety. Lovely little home.

I love your parents little Cottage home, it looks perfect for them. So cozy and cute! This is just my opinion, but I like where the kitchen area is set in. It looks out into the backyard. Which to me is normal, that is how my kitchen is situated, i look out into my backyard, not the front yard.... I also think this is so perfect how your sister's home is the main house. But directly across is where your parents live, and both have such a large backyards to do whatever need be. I'm so sure when the gardens are situated in all the right places, it's going to look so beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us all your sister and parents home. Well, John Edwards sure let down Bunny Mellon! That book sounds so interesting! I love the set up of your parents living next door to your sister on the same property! How wonderful for all involved! Their little house is so cozy and perfect for two. I love cute, small houses, always have and when the grandparents live by their children and grandchildren it is such a great way for families to look after each other. The garden is going to be stunning. You situation is so nice too. You get to live the urban life in Edinburgh but a 4 hour train journey is nothing! My adult children live on the west coast of America and I live on the west coast of Ireland. I'd give anything for a mere 4 hour train journey to be with them! Have a safe and enjoyable journey this month!

It is a very lovely home for the parents. Agree on what you said about kitten placement. A concern for all those who are aging is the stair situation when people age, stairs can become a major barrier for mobility. What I miss about living in England is the quietness of the countryside and keeping the windows propped open like that. Nice fresh air on a nice day. Nice green color on the kitchen cabinets.

I lived in Doha for almost 8 years and miss it. I now live in the Lake District and in Scandinavia in the summer. You have to show more from Doha - I think it has changed a lot since I lived there. Great country!
