@@rwatts2155 I actually teared up a little listening to his story, not only because I was very happy for him, but mine was very different. I had a very dysfunctional and abusive upbringing with no love whatsoever. Grammar school and high school were a nightmare. I was beaten with baseball bats and called vile names and the abuse lasted for years. It took me many years to get over the scars, and that is not self pity it's just reality. I had no support system whatsoever. I'm so glad Nicolas didn't have too bad of a time of it in school and had a loving and supportive family. I especially liked his message to young people to hang in there, that everything will be "okay."

@@cookingartguy2170 I know what you mean. Same here. I was kicked out of my parents' home when I was 13. Very abusive alcoholic father and the text book definition of a facilitator for a mother. Actually, being kicked out of their house was the best thing that could have happened to me. I became a survivor. After 15 years of intensive therapy and double that to put the therapy to work for me and having kissed a lot of princes who turned into frogs...I found my partner in life and we have been together for 27 years so far...and counting. He's my family. I am so happy Nicholas had a much different experience. Sure, he had difficulties but he has handled them well and he has a beautiful life ahead of him! I want the young gay people today to understand that they have infinitely better lives than we had in the 60's and 70's. And that we sacrificed so much and fought like HELL so they...our young gay men and women.. can have better lives and easier, happier lives than we had. They stand on our shoulders just as we stood on the shoulders of the gay men and women of the 40's and 50's and the shoulders of STONEWALL. And I pray that the gays of today develop shoulders for the gays who follow in their footsteps. People like Nicholas and his parents give me hope for the gay children of tomorrow. He and the many gay people like him are making the world a better place!

@@rwatts2155 I'm glad things turned around for you eventually. Some don't make it, I've known many unfortunately. My only regret is that it took me so many years to overcome the damage, not that I had a real choice in the process. I don't know how I didn't become an addict, but it just wasn't in me, I always wanted to improve myself, it just took so long as I said. I always felt dumb and worthless, but I've discovered late in life that I have writing and artistic talent, and I guess my regret is that I wish I had discovered it earlier, though I truly believe it's never too late. Glad you found happiness, at least as much we can hope to have in this world.

Says a lot about Nicholas and his friend. I think Nicholas will one day understand that he and his friend are still family. All relationships change. Sex is important but it comes and goes. Love and commitment make a family. Now Nicholas and his friend will eventually bring others into their family and those people will have to understand that they love each other and always will. And if the new people want to be part of their lives they will have to be mature and secure enough to love the other as family, too. We are ALL the product of our experiences and whom we have loved. Just because a relationship changes doesn't mean you can't love the person. After all, they are still basically the same person we loved in the first place.

As a gay man in a long term relationship of almost 11 years with my wonderful boyfriend I must say you give me some inspiration. And ways in which to incorporate traditionally feminine colors and textures into our decor. I appreciate you do not accentuate your sexuality into every video. By doing so you demonstrate how normal being gay is and that homosexuals and men in general can appreciate the softer, more delicate aspects of life and not let that define who they are.
@katiasaporta22503 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right, being gay is normal, but unfortunately there are still situations of prejudice and great ignorance in this world., when sexual orientation is another characteristic of the person out of many others who make that person who he is . One of my good friends is gay, and he is one of the most wholesome persons that I know, I learn from him everyday. Greetings from Chile.
@davids68983 жыл бұрын
@@katiasaporta2250 Exactly. Living near Los Angeles it is easy to forget that there still is ignorance throughout many areas of the world. Thinking about it even my boyfriend grew up in a Mexican household and if a man was anything less than “macho” he was ostracized and outcast by his community. So he naturally gravitates to not expressing his homosexuality to the fullest. Nicolas’ videos have shown me many ways to incorporate some design elements into our decor that would soften the more cold and masculine elements that exist due to his upbringing in a “macho” and rather homophobic environment.

While I was never personally ashamed of who and what I was, I did not share it with anyone until I was in my mid 30's. My career played a part in that ... and I was so busy that no one every inquired. I came out to my close friends, brother and sister in a single, calculated week in 2005, and every interaction was nothing but positive. I am old enough now that none of that matters, other than my opinion of myself. I love your channel, am lucky that I found you, and will be a weekly follower! THANK YOU.

Nicolas, I can't recall when I began following your channel, but I am so happy that I stumbled upon your videos. It has been obvious that you come from a loving and supportive family. The presentation of your videos are very calming and offer many pleasurable moments of serenity. Thank you for taking the time to share your journey, and a piece of your life's experiences. I love your philosophy of "...never complain, never explain." Continue to live your life, and live it unapologetically. There are always "trolls"...people who don't have a life except to attempt to create drama in the lives of others. For those who think you are too much, I have a few words of advice for them, "go find less". Those of us who SUBSCRIBE to this channel, follow your blog are here because of you, who you are, what you do, and what you have to offer. Looking forward to your next installment. ❤

I’ve been in the dance world from a young age, and been around gay people all that time. It never crossed my mind to delve into your past Nicholas. I consider that your personal business. I follow you because I really enjoy the content of your videos, and wish you happiness in your life. Please continue to make them!💓💓💓

I’m a middle-aged northern Irish woman living in Texas and love your channel. We all have our own paths to follow but much to share and love about each other. Those of us that can own who we are will always accept others and be happy. All we can do is pray that those who haven’t been able to do the same will find the strength to do so. The core of hate is fear and lack of self.

Lord, I’m so tired of cruel, mean people. Can everyone just relax and just enjoy the presentation of a video blogger. His personal life is none of anyone’s business. Nobody is entitled to his inner thoughts and feelings. I really wish he would keep his life private. Divulging information just gives trolls more to snicker and gossip about and in turn he will eventually get to the point where he can’t take it. They all do! Words have intent and the moment they leave your mouth it starts to create its own reality.

Yes responding is never enough, not answers they are looking for, better to just block them from the channel.

Let me start by saying how I so enjoy your channel! You’re an admirable young man and so transparent. I have a son about your age who is also gay and a very similar story of how he came out! Keep being true to yourself and ignore the trolls, they don’t deserve your kindness!

I'm sorry you feel you had to clarify & explain your life because of a few who probably don't have a life. The vast majority of us absolutely love you and your channel, Nicolas. So, please continue to put out your wonderful videos. I've learned so much, thanks to you, and I look forward to seen you on KZbin each week. (P.S. Your parents did a wonderful job raising you. Our world needs more parents like them.👍💖)

You really don't owe anyone any explanations! But, as I have always said ~ for every person that comes out...it makes it that much easier for the next guy. I am glad you had an easier time coming out with family - my family cut me off for 14 years... was tough...but eventually everyone came around and all good and they love my husband. Thanks for encouraging other people Nicolas. As far as being real... you have been forthright and honest from the start, you are not a snob, you have explained that you come from a Working Class, and even if you were an Aristocrat - it would STILL be no ones' business. You are talented, kind, genunine, and creative. Period!! Your'e single... can't see that happening for too much longer --- you are too great a Catch! I did enjoy your VLogs with Tracey she is a lovely person. Looking forward to your new content! Take us through an Antique Store and back to London!

Wow. I cried so much. I am so happy to hear that. My best friend has still such a hard time with his parents, that he wanted to kill himself. Your parents are so lovely and I support everyone living their best life. As a friend you can only be there and support as much as possible. Have a good time. Thank you for sharing.

MSN chat! That’s a flashback! I had a very similar coming out story around the same time as you in the early 2000s, the world was a different place to what it is now. In order for us to survive we had to adapt. All credit to you for creating this channel. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but be proud to know that you’ve built a lovely community of people who look forward to your weekly content. Best of luck and keep it beautiful ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Nicolas, you are a very brave person. The fact that you are comfortable enough to discuss this is helping so many people come to terms with issues they are tackling. You've not allowed negative bullies to shame you. I find you very informative and a very good teacher. You are creating an awesome lifestyle. Keep doing what you are doing. You are awesome. There are so many who support you. Most importantly thank you for sharing your family with us.

As an American, I completely understand remaking yourself. Americans do it all the time; we strive because we don't really understand the concept of "staying in your place". Your place in life is wherever you make it. Love your videos.

1- other people opinion is their business, my opinion about them is my business 2- No complain, No explain 3- No shame and guilt in improving your lifestyle, because it comes to number 1, my life my business.. It would be a wonderful world if everyone could get that, but it comes to number 1 again. My mind, My world, my business, I am the only one that need to get what I want them to get.

Nicolas, I’ve been a subscriber from early on and my immediate assessment of your character…honest, sincere, bold and delightful, has if anything only increased and confirmed my ‘snap’ judgment. You would make any grandmama (I’m 80 now) very proud and extremely fortunate to have you about in her life. Thank you for this sharing, not only because truth is down right intoxicating but also, because your calmness while speaking so truthfully will help those other’s who might be in more precarious situations deal with their own emancipation. Bravo!

As I scroll through this comment section, I come to realize what a wonderful and kind community you have cultivated with your channel. Usually there would allways be those 1 or 2 who want to say something not so nice, but I cannot even find one in this entire comment section. Im so proud of you for being able to so confidently tell your story, but please don't feel pressure to tell people about your life because of trolls. As a gay man, I'm so happy to see such a wonderful community, and a wonderful channel that represents my interests so perfectly. Thank you so much for such a lovely video, and for such a great job at cultivating such a lovely community!
