Nicolas, the only thing I don't like about you is that you are more mature and advanced and well-adjusted at 30 than I am at 66. LOL. You're a dear young man. Your parents must be very proud of you.

Frank, he IS a wonderful young man, isn't he?! I'm 66, too, and he is an inspiration for me. I wish I'd had parents like his, but then I wouldn't be who I am, would I? I'm sure his parents ARE very proud of him. They SHOULD be !!!

@@rwatts2155 I actually teared up a little listening to his story, not only because I was very happy for him, but mine was very different. I had a very dysfunctional and abusive upbringing with no love whatsoever. Grammar school and high school were a nightmare. I was beaten with baseball bats and called vile names and the abuse lasted for years. It took me many years to get over the scars, and that is not self pity it's just reality. I had no support system whatsoever. I'm so glad Nicolas didn't have too bad of a time of it in school and had a loving and supportive family. I especially liked his message to young people to hang in there, that everything will be "okay."

@@cookingartguy2170 I know what you mean. Same here. I was kicked out of my parents' home when I was 13. Very abusive alcoholic father and the text book definition of a facilitator for a mother. Actually, being kicked out of their house was the best thing that could have happened to me. I became a survivor. After 15 years of intensive therapy and double that to put the therapy to work for me and having kissed a lot of princes who turned into frogs...I found my partner in life and we have been together for 27 years so far...and counting. He's my family. I am so happy Nicholas had a much different experience. Sure, he had difficulties but he has handled them well and he has a beautiful life ahead of him! I want the young gay people today to understand that they have infinitely better lives than we had in the 60's and 70's. And that we sacrificed so much and fought like HELL so they...our young gay men and women.. can have better lives and easier, happier lives than we had. They stand on our shoulders just as we stood on the shoulders of the gay men and women of the 40's and 50's and the shoulders of STONEWALL. And I pray that the gays of today develop shoulders for the gays who follow in their footsteps. People like Nicholas and his parents give me hope for the gay children of tomorrow. He and the many gay people like him are making the world a better place!

@@rwatts2155 I'm glad things turned around for you eventually. Some don't make it, I've known many unfortunately. My only regret is that it took me so many years to overcome the damage, not that I had a real choice in the process. I don't know how I didn't become an addict, but it just wasn't in me, I always wanted to improve myself, it just took so long as I said. I always felt dumb and worthless, but I've discovered late in life that I have writing and artistic talent, and I guess my regret is that I wish I had discovered it earlier, though I truly believe it's never too late. Glad you found happiness, at least as much we can hope to have in this world.

I see many comments saying that “you don’t need to explain yourself.” And quite right - you owe no one an explanation as there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. But I feel what their point fails to account for is perhaps your ability to hold your head up high and tell your own story - removing the ability of others to tell and perhaps alter that story for their own devices. Well done sir!

I’d echo many of the loving comments below. I grew up in a three bedroom council house in Swansea. I was the middle of five sons, one of whom was my fraternal twin. I feel like I have not just made my own family since going to University in London, but even more so here in New York, where I moved when I was 27. I always knew I was gay, and it gave me the benefit of rejecting norms and expectations and deciding what was right for me. Like you, no one would really guess at my upbringing - not because I wanted to be “better” than my roots, not because I was ashamed of anything or ever thought that I was less than I should or could be, but just because I wanted to be self-sufficient and not be beholden to anyone later in life (even though I have been a corporate slave for many years here in NY). I thought this video was lovely, and like you, got through my early years pretty unscathed, and enjoyed loving parents even though my mother was frankly a petty-minded, bigoted Tory at heart. It didn’t stop her from loving me. Those of us who didn’t suffer in striving to be our authentic selves, should always provide as much of a helping hand to those that haven’t had the harmony we have enjoyed and to those who are suffering on their journey to being their best selves.

You would make any grandmama (I’m 80 now) very proud and extremely fortunate to have you about in her life. I just wandered across your videos when looking for tea sandwich ideas. Your style intrigued me, so I found your channel and watched this and a few other videos. As a successful, international wildlife photographer, who also came from a nice but ordinary background, I relate a lot to trying to break out into the big world and do your own thing, even when it's completely outside your initial reality. So kudos on breaking out and proudly being the person you want to be. You seem like a very nice and decent young man whose family must be very proud of you. And while it's very kind and generous of you to explain things, as you have done in this video; remember you don't owe anyone explanations for who you are or want to be, least of all a bunch of envious, bored trolls with too much time on their hands, who will never break out of their basements, much less into the beauty of the world. Never let them get you down, you have the whole world as your oyster, as they say, and beauty to guide you along. Anyway, although I don't do much KZbin, I have subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your very nice videos. Ps: love the puppies!!

Such grace and class. He handles such unnecessary questions, accusations, etc. with a level of professionalism that many do not possess. Sad that this has to be brought up again and again and again. Why not just enjoy and appreciate what he offers.

I like your video and audio quality. Your lighting is very natural and balanced. The way you mix the tungsten and daylight works very well.

Another words…“I just want to clear that up….Tracy’s not buried in the backyard” 🤣 I got a chuckle from “she’s alive” too. I love Nicolas’ vlog so much. This was such an important video too. I think it will help a lot of people who are still struggling with acceptance. God knows what I went through 🥺 but things are better now.

Nicolas, you are so very loved. The only reason people would spend 3 hours on google trying to find dirt on you is because they are jealous of you for being authentically yourself. Although I know you don’t feel compelled to defend yourself to these people, I so respect that you do it for those who feel discouraged about their own authentic self. I believe this is yet another facet of ‘making life more beautiful’ from the perspective of the internal as well as the external. I love you, Nicolas, and I look forward to you having a positive place in my heart every week for many years to come. 💝 Jim in Orlando, Florida … P.S. My favorite things about this video were the photos of your family at the end.
