A Tour of Norwich Guildhall

Richard Matthew, a former Guildhall guide takes us on a virtual tour of this important, but often overlooked and taken for granted building located in the centre of Norwich. The tour focuses on the physical history of the building in the city from the 15th Century through to the present day.

it was lovely to learn so many new things about the Guildhall - very interesting and clearly explained. I used to go regularly to the juvenile court there in the mid 70s (as a social worker I hasten to add!) And yes, it is really important that we should have access to the building. I feel optimistic about the next tenants.

Hi , my grand father did 8 months Hard Labour when imprisoned in Norwich and he had to ‘walk the water wheel’ at the guildhall …Was this a temporary wheel or a early permanent item?. 1926..
