I met up with Station Manager Ian (Also knowns as the Selfie King) who let me announce a Northern service to Barrow-in-Furness. A week later Ian showed me around the disused platform 6.

I was born next to the Castle Station-Green Ayre line, back in July 1943. Steam trains going up to Castle Station had crew who threw coal into my grandmas garden as they passed ! Also when Carlisle Bridge was being worked on, I remember trains were diverted from Castle Station via Green Ayre to Morecambe via Bare Land to Hest Bank.If only I had a camera back then.

When I was a boy I used those electric trains to Morecambe from Platform 6. It was a good convenient and reliable service.
