I hear the Harry potter train is a replica of the one used in movies. This one isn't the actual one. Tourists pay a fortune to go on it and it's a replica. I recently took the journey but it was the scotrail train and it's stunning area well worth visiting. Great video which I enjoyed!
@martynraynervlogs48205 жыл бұрын
It's not a replica. A working replica would cost millions of pounds to build. This loco is a "Black 5" and has a lot of the "Hall Class" features. Hogwarts Castle in the film is Olton Hall. to anyone who is not a trainspotter, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a Black 5 and a Hall Class. I might be wrong on this but, I think 5972 Olton Hall AKA Hogwarts Castle is currently at the Harry Potter studio in London but can't run as the boiler certificate has expired.
@bushcraftandastronomer.37755 жыл бұрын
Peaple at Scotrail say it's a replica and and not the actual one. I've asked a few who know it's a replica. The actual one from the movies is in England. I recently took the Scotrail train through area and it's stunning there.
@martynraynervlogs48205 жыл бұрын
@@bushcraftandastronomer.3775 tell you what look at the number on the front and google it. The people at Scotrail certainly wont be saying it's a replica. Do you seriously think anyone could afford to build a locomotive which would be allowed to run on the rail network. last steam loco built since around 1950 was Tornado. You are right its not the one in the film as i said that's at the studio and its boiler is out of test. The Black5 in this KZbin video is not a replica unless you think a loco that looks a bit like the loco in the film and built in the 1930s constitutes a replica.
@MasterMoyle5 жыл бұрын
@@martynraynervlogs4820 The loco used in the Harry Potter series was a Great Western hall no 5972 Olton Hall. 5972 is indeed at Warner Bros studio tour on static display but it is hoped that the engine will one day run again when her owner David Smith is able to undertake the engines overhaul. The loco featured in this video is an LNER K1 no 62005, this was a class of engine that regularly worked over the West Highland Line in steam days. 5972 never worked over the West Highland Line in steam days as it worked mainly on the GWR network from London over routes to Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth, Kingswear, Cardiff, Chester, etc.

@@martynraynervlogs4820 The loco at the Warner Bros studio tour is the real engine that was used in the films. The engine in the video isnt a black 5, it's a K1 no 62005. The steam train is called “The Jacobite” and runs between Fort William and Mallaig. You can catch an overnight sleeper train from London Euston to Fort William, otherwise you need to take one of the regular Pendolino trains from Euston to Glasgow Central, and make your way to Glasgow Queen Street (it’s about 10 minutes walk from Central) and catch a regular train on the West Highland Line to Fort William.
