A-Trak is a class act. I remember purchasing the DMC VHS and watching A-Trak kill it and gave the crowd the middle finger during his set...classic. I have the 70, just got it about a month ago and have no regrets. I love the look of the A-Trak edition and if I can get those plates to switch out mine, without the A-Trak name, I will. It would look nice with my silver 1200s. Great interview and nice of A-Trak to share his thoughts on your 5 questions.

What I love about this mixer is very few people seem to hear what he actually did to the sound curve..which says a lot about the DJ crowd. It‘s a new level of depth and 3D in the lowend, pressure, pop, yet extremely clear, it has a color like expensive boutique audio gear (which never gets used because of ‚neutral‘ sound but because of coloration), also incredibly punchy transients. I love to simply play tracks through it because it sounds so nice and just a tad different than the original song. I hope many ‚DJs’ stay focused on funtionality so they sleep on this hidden gem just because pioneer has effect X or Y which this one hasn‘t, it‘s also great to have that nasty logo all over the faceplate to weeb out insecure DJs who won’t use it because of their inflated egos..and miss out on this masterpiece. Thanks so much for this incredibly helpful video, also do you know how limited this mixer actually is? Some say it‘s 1000 pieces total, but I never heard anything decisive.. Mark my words: upcoming rane mixers will have a similar sound curve, about time because the other rane models sound unexciting and too boosted in the mids.

Just ordered 1,can’t wait to add it to my 72 and 62 mixers. Buying it for use but also a collector’s item. To me it’s no different than buying a sneaker with someone’s name on it. Maybe if I still did clubs but even than I may use it. I don’t worry what people think never did.

&V Singh yes, & lots of people think they sound better than Pioneer DJ. I have no idea though, I’ve never used a Rane mixer. Still using my Pioneer DJM400 with my 1210’s. I’d love to try some of the Rane offerings though!

@@lustforlow-end6022 I have the Pioneer Djm 909 before that I had the Rane and the first thing I noticed was the sound signature on the rane is warmer and brighter on the Pioneer. I got the Pioneer because I'm a massive fan of Jazzy Jeff and he used the Pioneer Hah. DJ Grandmaster Flash uses Rane and I just remember his sets sounding incredible.

So I used to have the Rane sixty two and considering doing this upgrade. On the 62 you have this "usb-in" fx-button that makes the serato-effects post fader. What about the serato software effects on the a-trak edition: can you choose to set them post fader?

The technology moves forward but nothing has changed for the actual core of DJing. Looks like people are just overthinking things these days. It is as simple as he says. Just get in front of a gear, start playing music you like and try to elevate it by creating seamless transitions and combinations which give those tracks new meaning. Also the whole set should be a story telling with a progress not just throwing random tracks here and there.

@@HouseJackBuilt not a gain knob a separate up fader. You can do more with with an up fader than a gain knob like the sample up fader on the DDJ SX and DDJ SX2. Works great!
