Oh boy, the storms happening so often must be so stressful, Jen! I hope your fun weekend is a good reset and starts the end of the storms. Your blanket and your hat are so fun!! Thank you for the heads up on the lumos lumos during a power outage!! I'd have been running around trying to find matches... I look forward to seeing what you decide to sew. Thank you so much for your videos! Having the kids in the background and in the foreground when you get a chance to do videos would be fun during the summer!!

Thanks for the great podcast. I am trying to clean up and organize my house, having a dog/housesitter while I’m away for a week in Ireland, leaving next Wednesday. My first trip there and very excited. It is not a knitting tour, but I already have planned a few side trips I hope. I really love the blanket colors, I was reminded of those crochet dolls whose skirts would cover a roll of toilet paper or tissue box or something back in my youth. That was funny!

Ooh, stormy week for you, I hope it all stays calm for a good long while, Jen. Enjoy your upcoming staycation weekend with your friend, sounds divine. I love watching your blanket colors come together. Purl Soho is have a 25% sale through the long weekend, maybe time to treat yourself to another bundle : ) Love Atlas and BT as well, all your projects are beautiful. Start of summer, yippee, enjoy having your kids around, I know you do, it all goes so quickly, really. They grow so fast...I will be going to MDK Shakerag this year - wow, next week already - for the first time, hoping to see the MDK workspace as well. Carry on through the stormy weather and packed schedules! Knitting helps, so true. Love your videos :)

thanks so much - the weather was much better this weekend! (and I saw the Purl Soho sale ... love that they have them so often!) you're right - these years with the kids are flying by so quickly; I'm here with them every day but can barely keep up. this summer will be a nice time for us and I'll try to soak it all in. (good reminder, thanks!) I sooooo wish I was going to Shakerag this year, but it didn't work out this time - enjoy!! it's such a fun time. (and the food ... please have a lemon poppyseed cookie for me!) take care!

Derechos are no joke! We had one in Virginia several years ago and it took down 5 trees in our yard. Fortunately they were away from the house. I use my lumos light for walking the dog at night. It's great! Stay safe in the crazy weather. ❤

Hi Jen. I am from Victoria Australia and cannot comprehend the type of weather patterns you have where you live. Watching the news and all the tornadoes makes it hard to understand why you would want to live where you do but if you have grown up with that it must be different. Take care of yourself and your family. ❤
@JenGeigleyKnits8 ай бұрын
thanks! I’ve always lived in this state, so I’m used to tornadoes - once in awhile - but they’ve definitely increased in number and severity in just the past few years. I think we stay because we love our house, our kids love our schools/friends, and my husband has his job here. All things we could change, yes .. but moving is hard too. (but have we talked about it? totally.)

So happy all is good. I finished my Warmthness! It looks really good! I was sweating it during the mattress stitch sleeve attachment, but it turned out fine! Had to start over a few times, but it was not painful. Took a page from your D&B crank machine and made myself a 3 sided wedge out of a sticky note that says Increase, Decrease and Even, one on each side. I’m now knitting these mega long rows where it is hard to remember what you are supposed to be doing at the markers! Love your videos!

So sorry about all your crazy weather. That derecho you had a few years ago came all the way up to Canada. We had a tree come down onto our power line which actually saved our car from getting crushed by 1"! We were out of power for about a week then too.
@JenGeigleyKnits8 ай бұрын
oh gosh - yes! it was a big line of storms and hit such a large area ... I'll never forget it. unreal how something can hit one thing and narrowly miss another ... what a wild time that was. (and such a long time to go without power.)

The necklight also SAVES your phone battery - incredibly useful!!! Your knitting is inspirational! I am hopeful it helped to settle your nerves as you have been through MORE than your share of bad weather. The warnings/sirens/tree sounds are horrible...I am very thankful you and your family are ok. Michigan is not exempt from tornadoes - it is nerve wracking! Thank you for even thinking about podcasting with everything that is going on. Continue to be safe - hoping Bowie is feeling a lot better. 🧶

Oh my goodness… scary weather! Maryland isn’t exactly tornado alley but we do get them here. A couple of years ago one ripped through town and caused a lot of damage. I had a friend who lived here in town but moved away during the pandemic, and her former house was condemned after that storm. Anyway last week I mentioned my friend who made a really gorgeous tote pattern. She got back to me with the name of it… it’s the Professional Tote by The Creative Thimble. She said she got her pattern at Walmart but I googled it and it looks like it’s available in a lot of places. Have a good last week of school, and I hope the weather is nicer! My son is coming home from college today. His college a capella group is singing tomorrow at a local church. A lot of the kids in his group are people he knew from high school. We’re not churchy people but we’re looking forward to watching them perform tomorrow..

wow, yeah - storms are no joke. thank you so much for sharing the name of the tote pattern!!! I'll go look it up right now. thanks s much for watching and enjoy the time with your son!! (and his singing!) love all of this.

Monitoring the weather forecasts lately sure has been worrisome. I'm glad you're okay from the last rounds there, how scary! I grew up in MI where we had a tornado warning system and basements... neither of which we have where I now live in central Texas, so when we get those storms (which is happening more and more) I'm not sure where to go for safety in hurry. It's totally nuts. Thanks, climate change... But on a happier note, how fun to hear about your feature(s) in Farm & Fiber Knits, I'll check it out. Stay safe, keep your eyes on the sky and may your battery chargers always be full! And now I'm off to charge mine because we may get another storm warning later today...

We live north of Chicago, and our power goes out frequently. On January 2, we had a whole-house generator installed, and it’s worth the money! It’s already powered us back up 3 times since installation. Is this something you can consider installing? It might ease your minds at least on one front, while the weather seems to be trying to kill you. 🤨
